On Board Air Compressor

The extra fuse is a great plan. A few months ago, we were out in Arkansas hillbilly land. There wasn't a town anywhere around us. When we came off the trail and started airing up I hear a pop and the ARB was dead with a blown fuse. My wife asked if I had a backup plan. I told her of course, I have the Mikita portable compressor for emergencies. As I was digging around everywhere in my truck getting wires and connections to rewire the ARB, she asked why I'm not just airing up with the Mikita and I stated "because it's at the cabin".

As I continued to dig in my various bags and tool box for some connections, I found my fuses. I swear, I don't remember buying them because I thought they were too expensive at the Auto store. I guess I got some off of Amazon and threw them in a bag.

This situation made me realize that my storage/organization were a nightmare so I reconfigured all my gear to where it made sense.
Good for you keeping fuses in the car… I’m adding a box of fuses to my emergency kit!

Mark, the biggest thing is, the fit is tight… it fits perfectly, but you need to make sure wires are tight, and connectors lay flat (inside the well). “Dry fit” everything on a work bench.

Finally make sure you have an extra fuse handy… the XL blade fuses aren’t always in stock at your local autoparts store… I accidentally touched the wires together during install and then had to wait an extra day waiting on a new fuse.
Thanks - I’ll have to look into picking up some XL fuses in preparation. If there is a chance one can pop - I’m one of the first to do it - sausage fingers ;-)

Any recommendations on where to source / purchase the XL Blade fuses from?

thanks - Mark!
