On Board Air Compressor

For the record, my last trip to the forest was the first trip on my 37s and I was airing down to 17. I texted NJ and told him it was taking an eternity to air back up to 33. Like always, he offered to go time it for me but I was going back out that evening so I timed it. It took 2 minutes 43 seconds. After that it seemed fast...lol...

The 37s at 17 psi felt like heaven.
3 minutes feels like an eternity though 🤣🤣🤣

do you have the catch can? if so can you send me a couple photos of where it mounts?
Here's a few pics of it's location, same area your mount occupies. You actually confirmed it for me in another post when I asked about it.

I guess if you want to air up faster you need to go with a Powertank!

Make sure there is a place that will refill near you.

Not all weld shops, air/gas shops, fire extinguisher shops or paintball shops will refill “off-roading tanks”

It’s totally messed up.

A buddy had a power tank, (they are a few hours from us and some of the absolute nicest people in the offroad industry)

I was about to get one as I had horrible issues with oba… (I’m lazy, they take maintenance if you offroad a lot, lines leak).
So just as I was about to buy a power tank set up, he had to refil his because he had 37’s and blew through it.

He could not find a place in the east Bay Area to refill.
He has to drive quite a way to find a place.

So…. If you can find a place first that will refill, power tanks are awesome other than they run out. (Like my mig welder tank right now dang it.)

Fifty, Thanks for your comments. Fortunately, there are two business's that will fill the tanks within about 15 minutes from my home at a cost of approx. $27.

The problem, in my case, is I go to different areas and wheel 6+hours a day for 5 or 6 days so I am safer knowing that I always have air with me.

I love my Arb… it just works, and when it’s not working it hides nicely. One of the better mods I’ve done.

lol you misunderstood him..that is for Fernando not to inflate tires because it wont anyway

It appears that Fernando is making light of the situation by suggesting inflating tires that might be resistant to inflation. Thank you for the explanation and the provided link, especially as Halloween 2023 is drawing near. However, this might not be the most suitable Halloween present.

For those considering the Powertank it is very well made and is available with all the needed ancillary components!

Power tank folk are super cool too! If you ever get a chance to head to Lodi Ca, swing by their place. Super nice people

Looks great
Thanks ParadigmDawg. but it is not about the good looks.
I can now run power tools and fill all four 37" tires an approx. 3minutes!
Time is money!

We have already talked about that but you win...lol...I have to spend the 10 minutes but I can air up and down about a million times without of running out of air. Plus, I always eat my victory pie while I am airing up. I mean, I didn't flip so I deserve it.

Oh, and all my power tools have a battery.

I use the SDHQ mount in my passenger side cargo box and love it. Perfect for airing up tires occasionally.
@DIN0ZR I just purchased the same setup from SDHQ but will be putting it in the drivers side box. I purchased the 6 ft wiring kit as well.

Any hints / tips / tribulations on running the power?

Thanks and be safe!
Mark

@DIN0ZR - I found your previous detailed post and will check it out more - should have looked a little deeper before I posted the above.

Watch out for excessive heat.

Mark, the biggest thing is, the fit is tight… it fits perfectly, but you need to make sure wires are tight, and connectors lay flat (inside the well). “Dry fit” everything on a work bench.

Finally make sure you have an extra fuse handy… the XL blade fuses aren’t always in stock at your local autoparts store… I accidentally touched the wires together during install and then had to wait an extra day waiting on a new fuse.

The extra fuse is a great plan. A few months ago, we were out in Arkansas hillbilly land. There wasn't a town anywhere around us. When we came off the trail and started airing up I hear a pop and the ARB was dead with a blown fuse. My wife asked if I had a backup plan. I told her of course, I have the Mikita portable compressor for emergencies. As I was digging around everywhere in my truck getting wires and connections to rewire the ARB, she asked why I'm not just airing up with the Mikita and I stated "because it's at the cabin".

As I continued to dig in my various bags and tool box for some connections, I found my fuses. I swear, I don't remember buying them because I thought they were too expensive at the Auto store. I guess I got some off of Amazon and threw them in a bag.

This situation made me realize that my storage/organization were a nightmare so I reconfigured all my gear to where it made sense.
