On Board Air Compressor

This happened to me yesterday, i can hear a buzzing sound coming out of the compressor any idea what that is?
That sounds like my vacuum pump on my pool. It started 3 years ago and I figured the motor would lock up within the week and it's still working fine but it's so loud I can't even go over to that side of the yard.

I would guess it's a bearing but it's difficult to tell over a video. Test it for leaks and rule that out.

When that happened it didn’t pump air whatsoever, but tried it today it’s working just fine with no more sound.
Okay, so that leads me to believe two things, the relays are not receiving proper power and getting stuck or you have one or both relays that are bad.

Maybe, today is the second day and it’s working just fine

Well, maybe a fluke. I would send ARB that and see what they have to say, maybe they will send you replacement relays. If not, they are cheap enough for decent quality on amazon.

Does everyone mount the twin ARB compressor under the hood or has anyone tried mounting in the second seat floor storage compartments?
I saw one mounted this way and it appeared very clean.
Thanks

By no means it is a bad mount, SDHQ makes great products. Heat will be your main issue, zero air flow unless you cut open the storage bin therefore defeating the water resistance of the bit, or you have to open it every time you use it.

Got it under the back seat. I can access it without lifting the seat up

I have seen great installs under the front passenger seat and under the rear drivers seat. Having to open my hood, with the truck running during air ups, gets on my nerves because my horn honks every few minutes and my hazard lights flash the entire time. This causes people to check on me to make sure everything is okay. Other guys that I know don't have this issue but I have tried everything I can think of and can't get it to stop.

I see the beauty of having it under a seat but I don't want that kind of heat in my cab or have more door open in the rain.

This is the set up I have. It’s great if you are just using it for tires etc. this way it’s open when in use. No space for a manifold or tank.

I have the @BrawlerFab underhood bracket. I’m awaiting the tank and tank bracket to do the install.

I wanted to keep the power lines short, and keep everything out of the cab. So I didn’t need a door open to run the air. Dust and dirt suck when it’s windy.

Also, and this is just an paranoid not based in any sort of testing or reality:
When I was a driving instructor, we were told by Ford, Dodge and Chevy to open the hoods and let the engines run to cool them down when stopped.

So if I’m off-roading and the water and oil temps are high from load, and then I am stopped to refill tires etc, I will pop the hood, Access the on board air and fill tires.

On my other truck where I have the dual arb in a box, I could have run a power line like tow trucks have, and then made a plug on the arb. But instead, I wanted to have a reason to open the hood.

Again, I have zero data for this other than the manufacturer’s who made the police cars telling me what to do.

talked to them they told me to bring the car for inspection, told them if it happened again i would. I am checking it daily, it happened after i sent the car to the dealership for a service I think they checked the battery and moved the wires from the battery itself.

So who makes the best mount to locate the ARB dual in the engine bay?
Thanks

So far from what I've seen BrawlerFab's mount let's you mount the compressor in the engine bay without having to get rid of the JL oil catch can if you have one. NH Overland makes a nice mount too but it occupies the space the JL catch can mounts too. So I guess it boils down to personal preference.

do you have the catch can? if so can you send me a couple photos of where it mounts?

I use the SDHQ mount in my passenger side cargo box and love it. Perfect for airing up tires occasionally.

I am a little perturbed that I had to remove the Brawler mount and go purchase a different bolt and spacer in order to get it off the AC line. I like how NHO mount is oriented in the engine bay. I kind of wish I had of went with it. I mean it's no big deal but I had so much that I needed to do to the truck on Saturday and I really didn't have the extra hour to correct the mount.

For the record, my last trip to the forest was the first trip on my 37s and I was airing down to 17. I texted NJ and told him it was taking an eternity to air back up to 33. Like always, he offered to go time it for me but I was going back out that evening so I timed it. It took 2 minutes 43 seconds. After that it seemed fast...lol...

The 37s at 17 psi felt like heaven.
