Was just going through our amazon subscribe & save and noticed these oil filters we've been using are now are on some sort of super sale. They did well on the oil filter tear down too. Figured I'd spread the word before they bounce back to normal pricing!

Ordered a couple - thanks

Fram is Garbage , SRT Filter Only for me

Why are they garbage?
Some are garbage but the ones i posted are not. I believe it was @OnTheReel that chopped a bumch of filters up to give us all the info we could ever need on filter selection. Thanks again to him for all that hard work.

Are these made in USA or the new Brazil plant ? They say they may have changed the insides in the ones from Brazil ??

The one I just received yesterday is US made and appears to be identical to every other one I’ve seen. Still has wire backed media. It was manufactured just last month so it’s a fresh example too.
______

Fram has low end (Extra Guard) and high end products just like any other company. The Ultra is their high end. Efficient as any on the market and $4 is a crazy good price for what you get.

I bought 4 back in April from Walmart for about $9 each. Just changed my oil last night, so I will cut mine open today and see what it looks like compared to the one that @OnTheReel cut open.
@FULLTHROTTLERICK this is a great price and good find, but after reading some reviews of people finding dust and rust inside the filters and the filters being dented from mishandling during shipping, I'd rather spend a little more and get them local so I can see inside the box before I buy them

We've boughten several of these on amazon without issue. Return policy is easy peesy if we get a dud. Either way, Always way cooler to buy local and support your local biz for sure.

The Fram Ultra tested the best by a pretty good margin. Nearly 100% efficient at 15 microns is crazy good.

(The XG2 for our application is still using the same media as the one Ascent tested above.)

The only filters I can think of that would match or beat the Ultra is the Amsoil at 5x the price, and maybe the PureOne which is still more expensive than the Ultra today. And I suspect that one doesn’t flow as well either.

Particle testing on UOAs from my truck also suggests that Ultra does excellent…

Pore block:
13/11/7 (Amsoil EA)
13/12/8 (Fram XG2)
17/15/12 (Purolator Boss)
18/17/13 (SRT)

Enjoy !
