Oil Cooler Leaking

I think people have to be careful when changing the oil and draining the cooler. You have to put a crescent wrench on the squared part the plug sits in to prevent torque on the cooler itself and then remove or install the plug. I'm very careful at this part for this reason.
Yup def, although everytime I changed the oil I did this and was very, very careful and its still started leaking.

I agree that the oil cooler is fragile, but that's not the issue here. Your oil cooler drain plug was over torqued or the dissimilar metals of the cooler/drain bolt seized due to neglect. Did you buy the truck used or have someone else change your oil?
Your point about the dissimilar metals is precisely what I was explaining to some of my co-workers . Using a mild steel drain plug on an aluminum oil cooler leads to not just accelerated corrosion issues, but the potential to strip the threads on the housing… where the standard design would be to make the plug material weaker than the housing material. So, in the event that threads were stripped it would be the easier thing to replace.

I purchased the truck used with close to 22,000 miles on it back in July, from a CDJR dealer. They had preformed an oil change prior to the purchase. I would think that CDJR dealership would follow the book on an oil change, and assuming that much, the drain plugs should have been removed around 4 months/ 6,000 miles ago. The truck now has 28,000 miles on it. So I bought the preferred oil and filer along with a magnetic drain plug for the oil pan, and figured I’d save myself the headache of going to the dealership… not to mention some money!
Well, I can’t say that worked out the way I had planned!! 😆🤦🏻‍♂️

It's very easy to "tweak" the oil cooler when removing the drain plug. I "tweaked" mine the first time I changed the oil. It started getting wet just above the drain plug block where the tube goes down into the block. The second time I changed the oil, the cooler started dripping. I bought a new stock oil cooler and installed the valvomax drain plug. No problems since, however, that new PWR cooler is calling my name.....
