CHASE LIGHTS REQUIRED
UPDATE: 10/1/25
Due to recent rain, storms and flooding box Canyon is no longer accessible to trucks like ours. I’ve decided to move the first day drive to the Peralta Trail area. This area is gorgeous, but does have some narrower trails. Pinstriping should be expected. This trail system will lead us right into the backside of Queen Valley. From there, we can directly go to the Montana Mountain Loop for Sunday.
I did a full prerun of the Peralta Trail and the potentially hazardous areas of Montana loop. Everything looks good. Peralta is much shorter than the previously planned Box Canyon area, so we will have plenty of time for stops and will likely set up camp somewhere along the Montana loop.
Some photos from the prerun:
UPDATE: 9/24/25
This is now confirmed for the weekend of October 18-19th.
I am doing the prerun this week.
Chase lights will be required this time. There are several inexpensive solutions that are easy to install temporarily.
This is a great all in one solution:
SUCTION CUP LIGHTS <---- click
You can buy the complete package or just get the bracket and run some $30 amber lights from Amazon.

Looking to plan far ahead on this one. Hopefully this will give everyone time to plan for making it out to this drive. I'll start with just an outline of what I am thinking.
Main drive will be on Saturday.(the most exciting/scenic parts)
- Start in Florence
- Take Box Canyon trail
- Eat lunch on the trail
- potluck style?
- Stay offroad, traveling all the way to Superior.
- Those that want to go home will be able to easily take the 60 home.
OPTIONAL Camp overnight in the desert near Superior.
- There is a great spot for a decently large group to camp together just off the 60.
Sunday drive - Montana Mountain
- Sunday will leave from camp and travel over Montana Mountain
- Lunch on the trail
- end at Queen Valley
- People should be home in time for dinner
We can do any of those middle weekends. The 11th, 18th or 25th.
Poll will close in August.
I am about the be a father(again) in about a week. I may not be very on top of this, but this drive WILL happen no matter what.
