Locked out of running truck Taser DT

I've about had it with weird glitches since I installed Tazer DT now I'm locked out a running truck. I was at a project site it's 120 outside so I started the truck with the ram app to cool down like I've done 100 times all is good.

This time however I waited passed the shut off time to enter and the Tazer DT restarted the truck.( as I told it to in the settings and that worked) however when it does this it breaks all communication from ram app and remote support and apparently also disables touches to access because the f ing truck because it's now locked keys are in center console and I can't get in. I can't shut the truck off with the app I can't unlock the doors with the app and it just keeps restarting itself every 15 min until I pay someone to come scratch and bend my door to get in.

F me what a stupid problem but it's a real damn problem!!!! I just wanted my mirrors to fold when I locked the truck and auto hold but I may be disconnecting permanently
 
Tazer is good for doing small items, plenty have had issues when you start digging deep and modifying huge amounts of code.

stick with amber drl/folding mirrors and your generally (fingers crossed) good.

did you get it figured out or end up having someone come get it unlocked?
 
After an hr of f ing around calling someone to bring a key I found the only way to get it open.

Here is what I've learned :

1.) app and ram support doesn't work once the taser has executed restart.

2.) key fob inside or outside touch doesn't work while truck is running ( the reason is the truck doesn't think it's running somehow)

3.) don't remote restart your truck with the key in it because that's what creates this damn loop. The truck locks The Doors to start itself ( if you enter before the first 15 min timer your good ) if you miss it and the Tazer restarts the truck your locked out.


And lastly - the only way I found to open The Door. You have to stand by the truck wait for the 15 min window for it to shut off - you have about 3 to 5 seconds at most before Tazer restarts it. While it's off you send the unlock command from the app and touch the inside of the handle over and over and if you can't time it perfect you wait another 15. Took me 3 damn times to get it.


Let's just say that feature is getting shut off now and should be deleted from programmer until fixed.

More like frustration I was about to break a window I was so pissed off. It was 120 outside today and I'm stuck trying to unlock my truck when I can see the damn keys in the center console. Unreal this wasn't tested before I don't get it.
 
I was going to suggest using the FOB to lower a window, then realized that you stated the FOB was inside. So, that won’t work.

One other option, ‘If’ available: Does a Dealer have the ability to remotely open or unlock your/our/any TRX with a satellite connection? I have used this solution previously with my Mercedes when I locked my vehicle with the FOB inside………The TRX is “newer” than my former Mercedes, hence, it would make sense that other newer model vehicles ‘could’ be unlocked remotely, in the same way by calling a Dealer or your Dealer, and once they verify ownership, use the “Sat Nav” feature to remotely unlock it. [Just a thought! I don’t know the answer.]

FYI: I also use the Tazer DT & like some of the features …….. But, I’ve had issues where I’ve solved them ‘Only’ by completely reloading the Firmware (even though it was the same Version & had operated for some time without problem), and that solved the issues.

As an aside, I’ve used the remote Start feature many times, but found that some of the ‘Electronics’ don’t work unless I physically get into the TRX & push the “RUN” button. I am unclear if the A/C compressor works without doing so. [Good Post!]. Thxs!

How? This is not a feature on our truck.

For the OP get Igla and Compustar with Drone and you can use your phone for everything. Zero issues with all of this. Then use AlfaOBD for the other features.
 
3 years of ambers and auto fold, not married just plug in and go. Zero issues.

It’s been fairly highly documented that the more in depth you get with the coding mods on taser that’s when you have issues.

I feel like that makes sense as the more you rewrite it tell code to do other things you eventually step on the toes or accidentally write a code that then tells the truck to do something else you don’t want.

I imagine with Alfaobd it’s the same as bimmer link or forscan, and you can get yourself in pretty serious trouble by modifying code you do not understand.

Granted taser markets it as being able to do these things, so shame on them for not fully testing prior to releasing the options.
 
Anyone have luck getting Taser DT/Z Automotive to respond to support issues? I am finding their support has been virtually non-existent/worthless. My Taser DT bricked during a firmware update via the ZPU loader last week. Since then, some features work on the truck, others don’t—and worse, it’s now killed two batteries by draining them completely dead (big issue).

All I’ve gotten from ZAuto support is a pair of initial "canned" first line replies like “try a recovery” and “try a manual upgrade”—neither worked and they have gone radio silent now for a week offering no next steps or possible ways to resolve this mess (i.e. at least maybe offer to exchange or replace the failed unit, or even responding and say "suck it up, our stuff stinks and you need to buy a new unit).

This experience is sending a clear message: the Taser DT is not reliable enough for a high-end truck (like the TRX), and worse, it can leave your vehicle inoperable. I used to be a big Taser DT fan, but this support failure has eroded all confidence in the DT and ZAuto.

Has anyone actually gotten through to them or had any success getting issues addressed/resolved? Please share how— as I will try anything at this point. I need to get this DT mess resolved, but at the same time others should be aware of what they are apparently getting into with ZAuto (i.e. Buy our box, but beware you're on your own if it screws up).
 
I’m such a simpleton at my old age (40) that I couldn’t even figure out how to get my DRL’s amber with Tazer’s absolutely horrible online instructions. So I sold the damn thing to a member here. Never again would I even consider buying one.

I realize we are having a Tazer-bashing moment right now, and that’s cool. I really just wanted to make one point based on your comments above.
Given that you have a Slow Hydro Blue, you’re more on-point with the “I’m a simpleton” comment than you are with the Tazer-is-garbage comment.

At least I admit the obvious. A black TRX was tempting when I was ordering mine to be honest, but then I realized that I don’t hate myself that much to want a black truck.

I'll admit that you gotta love washing your truck...a lot...to own a black one.
 
Thanks all. Not good, but not surprised by the ZAuto/Taser DT feedback. Still no response again today from their support. Russ103 may be on to something here... if it will not work easily/reliably for the "easy stuff (i.e. DRL)", IMHO, no way would I ever deploy Taser DT in a security role (i.e. lock out PIN). Just not reliable. Leave that to the experts who have a "baked" solution and a real support team, and avoid the inevitable headache of getting stuck somewhere because the Taser glitched.

IGLA support is on point. I am a dick (mostly) but will help you night or day. Tazer also isn’t an anti theft in any way. Its barely a deterrent *if it actually worked.

You are better off changing things like DRL's with AlfaOBD/JScan. It's cheaper and you don't have to worry about glitches or frying your RF hub.
