I just got forwarded an article that says in an interview with the TRX design team the name TRX had nothing to do with naming it after the T-Rex as a Raptor killer that was just a happy coincidence that was realized after the fact, but in fact they were under the gun to get it completed and unveiled in 2015 with the original concept truck and their legal team didn't have a chance to vet any of the new names that they actually wanted to call it (I'm assuming along the hellcat hellram etc lines but they didn't specify) so they used the Ram TRX because they already owned it from a two year run of a dodge dakota trail rated trim level they sold back in 2009-2010 called the Dodge Dakota TRX..... That being said it makes me a little sad that I will not be one of the first to own a TRX when mine comes in late this year, people have had their hands on a TRX for over a decade

I wouldn’t be sad at all. Those old Dakota TRX trucks are nothing like the new TRX trucks coming out that we will be driving. I would bet that most people have forgotten about the Dakota TRX. No comparison in looks or performance anyway.

Maybe sad isn't the correct word just disappointed it is technically a reboot and not a new idea specifically named to cut the knees out from raptor owner holdouts (not anyone on this forum that currently drives a raptor but is wisely switching to the superior TRX ;) that think they have a superior truck....

Side not it could be worse FCA could have gone the opposite way and brought back the name of a cool off road specific suv and turned it into a boring crossover soccer mom SUV cough cough blazer cough... at least they took something kind of meh and turned it into the ultimate fun machine

Before the Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks had the Outdoorsman trim starting in 2011, they were also called TRX. Actually was TRX4 which I suppose is for 4x4?

I doubt there will be any confusion.
