Insurance Cost

If one were a conspiracy theorist, one might think that the insurance companies want us to switch to electric vehicles…but we aren’t those people.
Lol interesting thought but not true. My Tesla costs more than my TRX for insurance. My six month premiums are $615 for the TRX and $725 for a model y performance. I have 1k deductible, late 30s, live in CA, no accidents or tickets for at least the last 10 years. I've been told costs to fix evs are higher. Parts and people trained to work on them are fewer. Idk. Fun fact the registration costs more too. Since ev owners don't pay into the gas tax they get charged more for their registration. Owning both I get screwed all the ways.

Im 47 no accidents, claims or tickets in at least last 10 years. Long Island Ny, Suffolk county. My rate for the trx was 185 a month., I just checked and State farm raised it to 225 a month. I called to ask why they said NY state approved a rate hike. 🙄

I had a conversation with the agent since, my oldest will be getting ready to drive soon. He basically said "Don't be a dumb ass and get her a Tesla, EV, or sports car." He recommended a used Toyota since parts are cheaper and way cheaper to repair. He also said avoid European cars as a first for a new driver.(until they are 25)

Thank you for the reality check. Teslas seem to be different because there seem to be so few approved repair facilities.

That's true, there isn't many places. When mine got hit (unfortunately not hard enough, I was hoping to get it totaled out. I only still have it because the value tanked on it)

$922 per year for the TRX.
$1,000 deductible.
$500K limits on everything (that was the max). Added $2 Mil Umbrella (4 vehicles and the house= $1,037 per year).

In chicago?? Who you insured through?

Not sure why, but the TRX is $75 per month while the three years older Challenger is $85.

Either way, I'm not going to whine about it. Much.

Thats very good for the Phoenix area. I'm slightly higher with them but I have a few add ons.
Unfortunately, that post of mine didn't age well. Two years later and I'm up to $730 for 6 months and zero changes in my driving record.

Full coverage with $1k deductible on my truck is $848 / 6 months. USAA, no at-fault accidents or tickets in about 15 years or more.

Mind if I ask who you use?
I’m USAA too. No tickets or auto claims, bundled coverages, $1000/6 months, $1k deductible. Hmmm, you have a great deal. Maybe GA vs. your state is the difference.

I pay $1260/year for a 100k/300k/100k policy, full tort, $1000 deductible, and $1 million umbrella insurance. I'm on the younger side, I have one ticket from four years ago, and seven auto claims in the past four years, none of which were my fault but still made it more difficult to get insurance.

What baffles me is that I was only quoted an additional $541/year to add a Trackhawk and WK1 SRT8 Grand Cherokee to my policy. I was expecting 4x that.
