Information from FCA this morning

Sarah strikes again! She has such wonderful canned responses. Thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom from a bot this fine Monday!

According to FCA the TRX Launch Editions are not being built yet, and no date to start the build is known.

Wait! Where did the conversation with Sarah go? You edited/removed it. ”Come on man”, put it back!

Nah just funnin w/ you, thanks for the information & welcome to the forum!

I got Arie today who gave me nothing but a copy and paste q4 message and talk to my dealer. Spoke with the dealer and they told me no update so far. Ram better hurry things a long here. It would stink for them if Ford comes out with a higher hp raptor and steals the TRX's thunder before we even get delivery.

Is anyone buying that the Raptor will be a 21 model? No announcement yet and not known date to reveal the new model. I'd be shocked if they can put things together to get a 21 model out even by the middle of next year (and then you're approaching 22 model year). Still curious to see what the power plant is though, even though it won't change my mind either way.

I would be for it if it had a GT500 power plant and they beefed up the frame/suspension like the TRX. Just an engine drop in won't do it for me either. The new 2021 F150 interior is much improved but I still think its a few steps behind the Ram interior. I can see them doing a 2021 V8 with limited production / limited edition version. Ultimately I think someone else on here said it, I also think the raptor will end up being a hybrid ecoboost in the long run

I agree with the long run V6 comment and honestly Ford would be smart to go that way. There are distinct market segments within this off-road capable truck market to go after here. Some are not going for a super truck, and will find value/joy in equally interesting engineering feats like finding the best power/speed/gas mileage/etc. balance you can get out of a power plant by combining boost/electricity, etc.

Then there is us. I want the super truck.

in all seriousness, I think there is a solid market for both, and smart marketing company will find the segment they can own versus competing in one where they can at best match.

Test Mule Raptors, with the rear suspension shielded, have been seen running around for quite some time. Ford 2021 truck order banks have been open for a month or so already so doubtful and updated Raptor for '21......but you never know.

No, but they are in a really tough spot. Putting that much effort in the ecoboost, even putting it in the Ford GT for Christ sakes, and then have to admit its not holding up to the competition, let's return to V8's. Sad for them, by the time they get it up and running Ram will be ahead of the game again and probably planning for red eye engine it or something else.

Thank you for posting.

Anyone else see this?

It is interesting how many V8 engines Ford has in its closet for a company centered so heavily around the eco-boost name. If they went V8, I'd bet on the 6.2 GT500 engine but can see them using the 7.3L or the 5.0L but spinning up a 6.8, as cool as it would be, seems like it would cost quite a bit.

The TRX really has caught Ford off guard it seems. Gotta love competition.

If Ford puts GT500 in that will be a limited edition like LE trx was that will be gone in 2-3 h and the price with dealer markup will be in a range of 140K

I believe for Ford to compete they will need much more than an engine in the current Raptor. The suspension for one. It sounds like these Bilstein dampers are much more sophisticated than the Fox. In the industry, Fox is a good midlevel damper kinda like Icon. But King is the gold standard. This is all an opinion which some here will Undoubtedly disagree with me on but my firsthand experience with King vs the Raptor is a pretty good comparison.

Next would be an interior update which I’m sure they would do anyway.

Plus the reinforcement of various parts and frame materials.

Finally, they will need to add Jump Mode. ?

I think they'll announce the new Raptor next summer at the earliest. Ram played games with the whole detuned to 500 hp and caught everyone off guard. I don't think they'll do a V8 but rather the V6 from the Ford GT. I don't see them putting all the weight in the front when the truck is already way lighter than the TRX.

I have a friend who works at the RAM plant and he’s seen atleast 2 TRX/day go through the line during his shift. I also seen 3 finished TRXs parked outside the plant. I’ll try to get pictures for you guys.

Ford may use a V6 for the base engine in the next Raptor but I don't think they can afford to offer anything but a V8 for the optional engine. The exhaust sound comparisons in the reviews between the TRX and Raptor sealed that deal in my opinion. Plus Raptor owners have been disappointed since the beginning when Ford went from a V8 to a V6, even if the V6 was more powerful.

The Ford GT v6 is too strung out for a heavy truck at that power level.

That is very nice, Stig. Welcome to the waiting room.

If they could crank out a V8 Raptor I would look at it...I think the Gen2 looks great...I want the POWA
