If the TRX returns in 2026, what would it take for you to make a change?

The horsepower doesn’t matter really. If it’s the same then I’d be fine. Comes down to pricing, markups, dealers, and financing. Also the ability to order and get one without just settling for what a dealer gets in. Mine is a ‘22 w/ 34k miles. It’s about paid for so Ram would have to either change a good bit or be extremely aggressive with pricing.

Nailed it exactly. I've been looking at a Raptor R, but I'll hold off for now until specs on the new TRX are finalized. What Dudebro listed would keep me in a TRX; otherwise, I'd go with the Raptor R.
That’s my thing, I sold my TRX for a Raptor R. I prefer Ram in general but they need to out perform the R for me to switch back.

Been thinking about this and it's a tough question. For me, it would all come down to the price vs any improvements they make. The biggest thing probably being the price though. It's a big ask to spend $30k or so more for the same truck with a newer year stamped on it.

If they want me to spend $125k+, it's going to take considerably more power, since I have had my eye on the Dusterhoff DT937 setup and been waiting for my warranty to expire. I really like the Corvette E-Ray's drivetrain, a V8 driving the rear wheels and electric motor hybrid system driving the front wheels. Something like this in a 1,000+ HP TRX would demand my money. I think a Redeye hybrid system would be great, but even if it was the current TRX motor with hybrid system for over 1,000HP, I'd be in line to buy. My guess is a system like this is probably more likely for emissions, mpg, and cost than hoping for a 1,000 HP variant of the Hellcat to be stuffed into the truck.

More power is AWESOME, but most of the motivation for me would just be to have a new truck again and ride this train as long as possible. I'm at 49k on my 21. I do not think it will be a tuned hellcat engine because the R is already at 720 and the most they have done with the hellcat is 717. I REALLY hope its the redeye engine, but I think there is more evidence it will be an all new V8, smaller displacement and twin turbo.

As I have posted before, I have only come across one Raptor R on the road and I beat him. Admittedly it was very close but I won.

That's awesome that you won. I've beat everything, including TRX's thus far but it's close enough that whoever gets the jump likely will get the win.

Yup sometimes the Raptor R will win, but every time will be uglier and sounding worse doing it.

So what would it take for you to make a change?
More Power. That is all I need to write another check.

For those in urban shitholes, I hope they do some sort of increased security.

TRX front definitely takes it but the rear I prefer the Raptor. Sound is a no contest with the TRX.

The one area I can say the R will win, and the reason I made the jump, is in the dirt. For 99% of people, the TRX is the better buy. For the top performing offroad truck, the R is the way to go.

The new TRX better have at least 807 HP from the Red Eye or 1,025 HP from the Demon 170 with E85. The other changes from the RHO don't mean anything to me. If you're eyeballing the new TRX, it's only for more power as these trucks are heavy!! I weighed mine when I needed to register it here in Commiefornia and it was 6,740 lbs. It needs every bit of 1,000 HP!

I really think they need to upgrade the radiator so it doesn't leak after a short time, upgrade the driveshaft so it doesn't clunk, beef up the transfer case and the FT/RR axles to handle more power or they will be blowing stuff a lot sooner over the current TRX. They need to do something about the CV boots as well that keep tearing and all the other weak links the TRX has now when they up the power.

There would have to be something monumental that would have to happen. Price decrease, new and better body style, etc….I am definitely satisfied with my 2023.

Ditch the Baja desert racer off-road concept entirely. Take the Redeye engine and put it in a street oriented, AWD, truck in the spirit of the original Ford Lightning.

I'll show myself out.

Yeah. The "Boss" lady (Wife) already said NO.
It would need to have to be pretty much bullet proof 900+HP, 37"s, Demon Motor, massage seats, No Alcantara, etc. etc. etc. I would be taking a massive bath on the trade-in. And a beating from the "other-half". My next Truck will be what I wanted to begin with when I started looking before going TRX, F350 or F450.....but that will be a long time from now.

I think I will port my blower and

I hear you. I am just debating going e85 flex fuel or just stay on 93 but add a ported snout and bigger throttle body and call it a day.

I was just thinking about exactly these points. Might be moot for a Redeye upgrade, but for a Demon power plant, I would think all those major components need the anti-grenading treatment. Although, the Dana 60 might be good.

That was originally the GMC Typhoon/Syclone, I had a Typhoon and at the time it was amazing! I smoked a buddies TT Nissan Z in 1993 off the line to about 60. It was kind of a bucket of bolts but it was a good looking rig. mine was red with grey. so fast for the time 5.0sec to 60 with 280hp. The thing about the Baja style TRX which I have is that equates to a very soft ride for a big have fast truck.

Are the Demon motors considered bulletproof? If so I would get one, again if they ride well but also update the interior the security system the control center and the overall fit and finish for the price they will charge which will probably be with all the options, around 120k. Hopefully just have 2 versions a base version without all the bells and an everything version. I hope they don't follow the Porsche/ferrari custom option where they really get you if you want it all and still claim a low base price. I would pay up for the all the options package is a relative deal if it were bought separately.
But my real question is the reliability of the Demon motor...is it that good?

Would probably depend on the price point but don't see myself spending the extra money because I am very satisfied with my 2022. (only 11k miles) I am not really interested in more horsepower. Would certainly like to see them fix the clunk issue on a new one with a fix that could be used on our older TRXs. Having said that I have been known to make impulsive buys at times.
