Dropped truck off at dealer this morning for the infamous misfire due to the leaking coolant into cylinder head. They said it might need a whole new engine. Caught it early so I'm really hoping it's just the head and the whole damn engine doesn't need to get replaced. They won't know til they take it apart but what's the likelihood the whole engine needs to be replaced? I don't want my truck sitting at the dealer for weeks. Even though I have compustar and IGLA I don't trust the people in service to not share the code to get someone to steal it . They be scummy! My anxiety is through the roof 😂

Those who have had your motors replaced how has the truck been afterwards? Is it ever the same?

Once the motor is out and apart it won't be going anywhere anyway. Thieves won't waste their time on it.

I have multiple misfire issues (second issue might have been prevented if the first dealership and read/followed a related STARS report), downtime (3x visits for same problem that entered Lemon Law) ultimately for a new radiator, downtime for an IC pump. Downtime for low IC coolant months later... <- All the downtime didn't include lost use awaiting appointments....

Sorry - but I'd guess month(s) for resolution (physical time on the dealer lot).

Fully expect a Goat - F... I would default to Ram Cares and open a case# re: your repair until 100% resolution. Although I now have an excellent Service Advisor/dealer (unfortunately 37 miles from our Phoenix home)... IMO it made a giant difference having RC/Stellantis 'watching' the dealership too. Take excellent notes including calls/emails/who you spoke with - spontaneous statements/any deflection + blame for delays in this process/etc. Thankfully this professional/personal habit helped make a difference and honestly 'buried' those involved who were apathetic/incompetent.

Hopefully your TRX resolution is without hiccups/unreasonable and excessive delays. I would just CYA and be prepared for a rainy day 'just in case'.

I had a similar issue, no damage to the motor, have put on close to 10K miles since without issue.

who did you get for dealer/service advisor?

If they remove the head for a coolant leak, I would rather have a new engine than a repaired one. You don't know the long term (beyond warranty period) problems due to damage.
This is true. Gonna be a long next few weeks.. or months.

What was the fix?

They said there was no damage to the cylinder (#7) or any of the engine components like pushrod, etc. They replaced the supercharger intercoolers, intercooler gaskets, intake gaskets, and the supercharger lid gasket.
