I'm preparing for a bed cap and want to relocate the CHMSL to the back of the cap to retain the rear view mirror camera. Does any one have a drawing with part numbers for the harness that connects it and the connectors?

I want to have a new harness ready as the cap installation people SOP is to just ignore the CHSML and splice in a new one on the cap.

People over on the 5thGenRams forum are using this type of cable to connect the digital rear view mirror to the CHMSL.

Thanks but that's not what I need. I have the camera from the factory, looking to build a custom harness to relocate the whole housing light camera etc to the back of the truck.

Based on the wiring schematic attached, it looks like you need this plug - https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetai...=/ha2pyFaduj8thm4KCiWenGE1J/cpyx5bGCYrfa1MU4=

Thats the plug itself, you'll still need the pins for them, which can be found in the datasheet here - https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/276/0310681010_CRIMP_HOUSINGS-228465.pdf

You can also see the "mates with" on that data sheet - which should get you the other side, if you are trying to make an extension.

I think.....thats what you are after, correct?

Thanks so much man!!! Yes I want to create an "extension harness" to move the enire CHMSL 6 ft backwards.

That might be fun!

Curious, how do you plan on running it out, and sealing the hole at the back of the cab there? Wonder if it would make more sense to run it up from the tail.....and install the cheaper 3rd in the place of the "nice" one.

Overthinking things as usual here.

The original housing has all the lamps and the rearview camera that I do not want to loose.
I figured taking the lens part and creating a mount on the back of the cap should be an hour work. To seal the CHMSL housing I'll just cut a plastic panel in the same shape with a grommet angled down to take out the wires and silicon it all in place and secure with the original screws and that should be as sealed as the factory light.
There is a hole in the bed on the right side that would lend itself easily for another grommet to get the wires into the bed.

I'm still hunting down for a diagram that shows that harness and where inside the cab it is coming from, hoping I can find an even simpler solution to take out the wires...

Part 1 is what I want to move to the back.....

So......for stupidity sake, vs cutting a plate, etc.

Get the cheapo 3rd, cut a hole in it for your wires to come through, and it can seal against the cab. Part number on it is 68298380AE - its $35 at the dealership.

How's this for a pic?

all the wires run from the BCM to the CHMSL, BCM is located on the drv side, by your knee.

Great suggestion about the cheapo 3rd light, and thanks for the wire routing pic!!!

Hi, just curious if you ever completed this project? I’m looking to do the same on my powerwagon.

thanks

Nope, after debating back and forth, I found a nice bed cover and installed it. The caps that I liked either didn't have a dealer near me, or would take forever to get here and were close to 4 grand by the time they did.
