RB Performance Brakes has recently released a 4-piston BBK with 2-piece rotors capable of fitting within the factory 18" wheels. Along with better braking performance, there is a tremendous weight savings as well.

"Our caliper pistons are made of stainless steel (machined from a bar stock) which has much lower heat conductivity than carbon steel (OE).
The fix piston caliper is more efficient and can provide an instant pedal response (both inner & outer pads simultaneously) vs. OE floating piston which only acts on the inner pad, while outer pads move only upon the bracket closure (there is a lagging)."

"Brake pad (Standard FMSI pad shape, same as Dodge's Charger/Challenger/SRT8), in fact, this is the most widely used brake pad among the Dodge brake family. Unlike others, our calipers use only standard FMSI (OE/Brembo) shape pads so customers have the freedom to source the pad of their preference."

Still nothing for 17's?
I'm not up to date with the 17" kit progress, perhaps @Warren-RB can shed some light for us. I know that there were a few stipulations that had to of been met for the 17" kit to be a possibility. One of the major challenges was whether or not the smaller rotor would be compatible with the rear factory caliper that has the electronic parking brake. I'm not sure how the initial testing panned out.

Is there a kit with just front calipers, pads, and rotors? (everything for just front)

Yes, that option has been added to the website. I edited the main post to reflect the change. You would need to select the "Front Caliper Kit Only" option which comes with the calipers, pads, adaptors, and front rotors. The price would be $2550.00 after the discount has been applied. You can save an additional 10% if you order the complete "Car Kit" that includes the rear rotors as well.

I worked with the guys at Racing Brake a long time ago when I was at Infiniti and the design of the rotors they came out with was outstanding.

Will the brake kit work on Volk TE37XT 18’s? I’m here in SoCal and would love to get a kit if it works with the wheels.

Do you already have the wheels? There is a fitment template that can be downloaded, printed out, and used to see if the wheel you have will fit with these brakes. The OEM factory wheels cleared by 3.08mm. I attached the template so you don't need to go searching for it.

You are very welcome! I have updated the main post to add you to the list. I will message all participants with an update when the time comes to close the list and send it off to RB for validation. Once validation is complete, they will generate the coupon codes to place an order within a 72-hour window.

Still nothing for 17's?
Downsizing the factory wheel is not a good idea especially for TRX, just like other trucks and SUV, it has a beefy (big, heavy & bulky) hub spindle, wheel bearing, and brake proportional to it load and HP - Mechanical is NOT Electronic.
Questions:

1. What's the motivation for going down to 17".
2. Any other aftermarket kits available.
3. How many TRX owners are interested in this.
4. Those who are looking for downsize ever considered compromising the safety at the same time.

17" brake kits are for those popular track cars like Subie WRX/STi, Mitus EVO 8/9/20, Nissan 350Z, Infinite G35, BMW M3, Mazda RX8 etc. back in early 2000 which RB was highly involved but realize those front brakes are even smaller than today sports cars' REAR brake.

If you and other TRX owners have compelling reasons to have 17" kit and with the understanding of consequence in downsizing their brakes, we can look into it but it will be a major challenge for the involvement, and the cost will be higher than the standard 18" kit being offered.

Thank you for remembering us, usually aftermarket wheels are more forgiving than stock so I believe it shall fit although a template test is still recommended before ordering.

Note: Our published fitment template is precisely accurate (in scale) as long as you verify the "print out" vs. the "real" dimension before cutting with a scissor.

can you put me down for a complete car kit in red please

You got it!

I have updated the timeline and opened up five more slots. I also included one more caliper color(silver) choice that Warren said is available upon special request. I will need to confirm what the added cost would be for that color choice. Once these next five slots are filled, no more will be opened for this initial group buy.

Funny enough my extra wheel just came in from Japan. I guess I’ll try and print out the template and see what it looks like.

The current OEM caliper is cutting it pretty close.
I’ll report back shortly. I’ll probably just go with the calipers kit for now and then add the rest later.

Any plans for a rear caliper setup in the future?

Update:

I received word from Warren that we will receive an even greater discount if we can fulfill all 10 slots. This is phenomenal news!

The caliper color option, Silver, has also been added to the website. Upon special request, you can send them a sample to choose any color you want. They can send out a color sample for approval before processing your order. Warren is also currently looking into an option to offer SS braided brake lines as well.

I would like to outline some of the major pros of this kit for anyone on the fence:
  • Most dealerships charge $2100-2300 to replace factory pads and rotors. You can get lightweight two-piece rotors, upgraded 4 piston calipers, and better pads for ~$1000 more than factory replacement.
  • The 4-piston Front Calipers are 100% compatible with OEM rotors so your chances of ever being stranded waiting on back-ordered parts are minimized.
    • This also opens up the opportunity to do an incremental upgrade by just starting with a caliper change if you still have a lot of life left on your factory rotors.
  • The entire car kit comes with a 41%(-65.4 lbs) weight savings. Out of the weight savings, 53.5%(-35.0 lbs) is rotational mass yielding even greater benefits.
    • This is a perfect upgrade for anyone running 37s. Not only will you get greater braking power, but you're also offsetting some of the weight you gained allowing you to regain some of the lost performance.
  • Personal Opinion: Out of all the brake companies, Warren @ RB has been the most transparent and responsive.
  • Here's a list of some benefits they mention:
    • Transparency in design & pricing - You know what you get, and how much you can save (compared to others' offers).
    • A purchase direct from a mfgr w/o getting confused with deceiving info through dealerships.
    • Performance & durability against other advertised brands with a money-back guarantee.

What's the offset of the wheels that you have? In the picture I posted, it looks like the template is near the front lip where the spokes connect to the barrel. I imagine if you have a more negative offset wheel, then you should have greater clearance.

From my understanding, there is no plan to come out with a rear caliper setup due to the integrated electronic parking brake. Warren briefly touched upon in this post:

Does this fit on factory beads?
I could not find any specifics but I'm fairly certain the factory beadlocks have the same offset and spacing as the non-beadlock wheels. If you have a spare, you can print out the fitment template and test for reassurance.

Perhaps someone who has swapped from non-beadlock to beadlock wheels can chime in. Has anyone noticed a difference in clearance with the factory calipers after switching to the OEM beadlock wheels?

They’re a 0 offset, but I feel like they sit a little closer to the barrel of the wheel. Have to work a late shift tonight so won’t be able to check with the template until tomorrow evening.

Makes sense I guess for the rear with the electronic parking brake, but if the other companies make a rear kit I wonder if it messes with that function 🤷🏻‍♂️

As far as I'm aware, there are only two companies, R1 Concepts & Rotora, that make a caliper upgrade for the rear brakes.

R1 Concepts: I can't find any information on whether or not the retains the electronic parking brake. Their smallest rotor offering still requires a 19" wheel.

Rotora: They do offer a kit that retains the electronic parking brake feature and works with factory 18" wheels. However, they use a separate solenoid to hold the rotor in place when the ePB is activated. I have some concerns about that since I do a fair bit of off-roading. The solenoid seems to stick out a decent bit and could be exposed to impacts. Detailed pictures on how the Rotora ePB solenoid sticks out can be found here: https://www.ram-trx.com/threads/custom-big-brake-kit.1688/post-257427

Now if we could pull together at least 10 people interested in a rear brake upgrade, then I imagine Warren would be willing to look into a kit for us. There will be no possibility for a rear upgrade from RB. "It should come as a factory setup, not for aftermarket alternation. It's a safety/functionality concern before the qt and it can't be presented lightly like other aftermarket offers."

Note: I want to make it clear that I'm not recommending R1 Concepts or Rotora rears to be used in conjunction with the RB front BBK kit.
