So I was talking to my service rep at the local Lithia Dodge about tire options, and he suggested the General Grabber A/T X as a good option. He said they are really good in snow and ice (that’s a lot of what I run into in the winter), and they are quiet. He said the only negative thing is I’d never make the 50,000 mile warranty they claim, and that it would be closer to 40,000 miles (personally I consider 40,000 miles or more a win).

Thoughts?

No experience with this particular tire. However, I have had great luck with General tires in the past. They were on my first c6 z06 when I bought it and they performed very well with a long tread life. Every bit as good as the Michelin Pilot Super Sports that I replaced them with. I also run a set of their red letter mud terrains on my Jeep. Never had a flat and very good treadwear.

I know the brand was considered the cheap stuff for a long time but they have served me very well.

I’m not familiar with the A/T x but I’m running the General Grabber x3’s in 37x13.5’s on my TRX and have no complaints whatsoever with them.

Hard to believe they're lighter than the Territory A/T's. They are not aggressive enough looking for me. Not sure if that's a priority for you.

Well, just ordered the General Grabber A/T X to replace the stock tires. They were a little less than the Toyo A/T III's as well as the BFG KO2's by the time they are mounted, balanced, and a front end alignment (about $1,700 for everything). I'll report back as time goes on with how I feel about the tires.

I was hoping someone would try out the KO3's Not sure if they are available in the TRX yet.

Stock size and 325/60r20 are available, but that’s about it as far as larger sizes go. @Dudebro told me earlier that a rep told him that 37s will be available Q1 of next year. I plan on getting a set.

A friend of mine has them on his 4Runner. He’s run a bunch of different tires and so far only has good things to say about them.

The KO3’s come in stock size, but are currently a load F tire

Will 37s work on factory wheels without rubbing?
37x12.5 will. Unless you realllllly boogie, you’ll never have issues. I have a few thousand not so gentle desert miles with 37s on stock height and stock offset wheels. Only rubbed twice.

After 36,000 miles the stock tires were done. Went with General Grabber A/Tx’s in a 35x12.50. I was amazed at how quiet they were on the highway as well as in town. The steering also feels a little lighter/sportier. Only time will tell on how they perform or wear.

Just did a 1,680 mile road trip to South East Montana (damn near South Dakota) for an elk and antelope hunt. Tires were super quiet on the highway. Ran into a little mud and they cleaned out really well. One thing I did notice, these tires fling rocks more than the stock tires. The next test will be winter snow and ice.

We finally go out first snow storm of winter. We have 8” of fresh snow on the ground, and below that a half an inch of ice (it rained first then snowed). Initial impressions of the General Grabber A/Tx is good. Way quieter than stock tires on the highway, and good traction on snow and ice.

In the last 24ish hours we’ve seen over 12” of fresh snow, and the General Grabber A/Tx has been flat out awesome. For anybody who traverses winter conditions, I’d happily recommend these tires. It’s still too early to say how many miles I’ll get out of these tires, but so far they’ve been fantastic!
