For those with pulley and tune, would you do it again?

What do you guys think about this kit...

And yea most importantly what measures can be taken so my truck doesnt catch fire like the one in this thread. Freak accident or is there actually preventive measures that can be done? Really sorry to that member and hope he gets a new truck he likes soon.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the oil filters on these trucks. They over tighten them from the factory and that messes up the threads. PPE makes a better filter with more thread engagement that may help. That and do your own oil changes so you know the filter is on correctly.

The smoke from the fire addled his brain, he bought a Ford. A Raptor R mind you, but still.... /s

Personally I would stay away from FAS. Nothing but issues with them from the hellcat community. You can read for yourself on that forum.

JMS Racing is the shop that “scuba Steve” here on the forum used for his tuning/install and it was a joke. Actually probably the biggest joke of this forum since it was created. Got to the point that I messaged the shop to talk to them and they admitted their dyno isn’t accurate at all and that they remote tune on that dyno (don’t use their in house staff). There’s an entire thread on that on this forum including the screenshots from JMS. They are clueless. That set of parts for the package reaffirms that idea. Plugs are a waste and pushing well over 15 lbs on 93 octane is unwise. I would be genuinely surprised if they had any tuner that does flex tuning on MOPAR. I would ask them how they setup flex, inferred or sensor?

To my knowledge still only 4 tuners in the country that do flex tunes on hellcats. Barth, Satera, NicD and Dusterhoff.

If you really want JMS to turn the wrench then go for it but have Curt do the remote tuning then and get a good flex tune from him.
Whats your opinion of Barth? He is local for me and I have looked for someone to trust.

I just had my truck built by Barth. Tim and Andy are freaking awesome people. They did a great job on my truck and I’m beyond happy and impressed with the continued support for any questions I have or tune updates I want.

I did Kong 2650, Kong 130mm TB, custom grind cam, kooks, chiller, and supporting mods and came home with 1010whp on high boost E85, 870whp low boost E85 and 833whp low boost 93.

If you’re looking for flex fuel Barth DOES NOT do flex on the TRX anymore.

I had the dusterhoff 937 kit on my last truck and the flex fuel tunes lose you so much power that to me it’s worth having individual tunes.
Plus Barth can make you tunes for any mix of E85 to keep it safe.

I have a E70-75 and E75-E85 tune for the low boost pulley just incase I don’t have good E for a time.

I undoubtedly would trust them with my money and truck again and plan to do so when I upgrade the next step.

I did switch over to 35’s from 37’s after the build and I feel a noticeable difference. Enough so that I don’t know that I’ll be going back to 37’s any time soon. The truck feels better on the street with 35’s but high speed offroad I still prefer 37’s or bigger.

How much did all that cost?
A little north of 30k all said and done.
My first time having a shop build something for me instead of just doing it myself.
Stressful trusting someone else to do things right but that’s why I chose Barth.

No complaints about Barth other than he is pricey. Hennessy prices but better than Hennessy quality IMO.
Comparing Barth and Hennessey has got to be the best joke to close out 25’ 😂

I mean Barth actually delivers on numbers because they know how to tune. But from a package standpoint the last time I saw a price sheet from Hennessy for a blower package and supporting mods similar to what you listed (minus the chiller) it was just shy of $30k. Hence my point.

I have 24k miles on mine with Dusterhoff flex tune (chose my own injectors, 10% lower and couple other things). Have been tinkering with idea of getting a RSQ8 and drove a new with CCB around all day and kept thinking “damn thing thing is slow to get going”. Edit* been running E85 since tunes and change oil every 3k miles.

Overall it’s been reliable (knock on wood). However you need to keep on top of the maintenance and will pay dividends on reliability. Biggest factor i thiji with these trucks is consistent build quality. I’ve owned mine since new and didn’t tune until around 7k. I was comfortable at that point to tune it without any weird things popping up before doing so.

Main thing is if you tune you have to be comfortable with the possible worst case scenario. If you are not, it’s just going to be a bug always in back or your head and to me wouldn’t be worth it.

just added an sq7 to the stable this year. Same motor as the rsq8. Eventuri intake, downpipes and IE tune (91,93 and e85 maps). Fun 800hp family hauler.

Itching to get something smaller and mess around with.
