I have the same thing. Just picked up my truck at Koons on Tuesday and as soon as I got on 495 I heard it and it was annoying the whole ride home.

My wife’s new jeep L had the same issue when it hit a certain speed on the freeway a weird noise would come from dash passenger area, took dealer 2 weeks to Find and fix the problem, they even called in a specialist that was a wiz at detecting where certain noises come from inside cabin to get it fixed. I guess that’s what separates a great dealer from an average one 👍

Well I took the truck into my local dealer yesterday and they “think” the whistling could be from the “air box seal against the firewall” not sure exactly what that is, but they ordered a part and are going to start there 🤞

Picked up my truck this week and as the days go by Ive noticed small defects that I didn’t notice right away. These arnt deal breakers, but I’m curious if they’re worth fixing? Has anyone had small defects fixed and did you have any problem getting the defects fixed? (I’d be taking it to a dealer that I didn’t buy the truck from) I have mismatched leather which apparently is pretty common, but there’s a spot on the passenger seat where it is sticking up a bit and the steering wheel picture is hard to see, but it has a couple ripples where it’s not sitting flat. Like I said these arnt huge deals, but I’m wondering if it’s worth bringing it up to the dealer. I’ll already be taking it into the dealer for a whistle coming into the cab when going 40+ mph.

The steering wheel bump I’ve had on the past 3x rams I’ve owned - 2017, 2018 and 2022 PW. I think it’s wiring for the heated steering wheel.

Im pretty sure most people have minor defects. I have a little wind noise coming from the passenger front area but nothing that bothers me. Its not whistling so i dont mind. My steering wheel also had a tiny scratch on the bottom part where the fake carbon fiber plastic is at but that didnt bother me either. I was so excited when i picked up my truck that i didnt even care to look around, foolish of me, but i got lucky and had no other issues, at least visible to my eyes...

After a recommendation from a member of the Facebook group I taped off the cowl and sure enough the whistling stopped. I’m assuming this means that the dash does indeed need to come off

With that being said the tape is still on and it’s nice to finally drive the truck and not be distracted by an annoying whistle!

Side note: The whistling noise could be from the windshield. The glue bead may not have been connected into a full piece around the windshield opening prior to the robot securing the glass to the truck. This happened on my brand new 2014 Tundra back when I bought it. I took a rock to the windshield after only 6 months and had Safelite come install OEM glass in my driveway. When he removed the factory glass he asked "do you hear a whistling sound while driving?" HELL YES I DO!!!! It drove me nuts and it turns out the damn factory left a 4" gap on the bottom. I'm guessing the adhesive glue pumping into the robot sputtered or something. He laid a THICK bead around it during the repair and the noise was gone! So, just keep that in mind as a possibility.

I was hoping it was the windshield so I taped that off first, but unfortunately it had no effect on the whistle. Looks like the dash has to come off… hoping it comes off and goes back on without any damage

Try to find a good dent ding guy in your area that can perfectly match the paint as it can be done(may take some asking around as they are not all the same). Most have no clue and want to blend the paint OR have the wrong / cheap paint system. The body shop I use only uses the best stuff and can match any paint and even paints cars like the factory's do and reasonable for the work taking everything apart to paint it right. You can't even tell the difference from the factory paint and there work. Do to my viper I know way too much about paint now so it bugs me when panels do not match like the factory does or paint defects caused by someone. On my trucks and cars now I prefer orange peel, so I can take it to my guy fix the paint if I decide to. My trx is NOT perfect, but I don't want the delivership taking it apart as what is wrong is not a big deal. Your paint scratches would bug me more then anything. You just have to decide what you can live with.

All these negatives and other posts are really making me rethink my order. There's absolutely no excuse for these issues with such an expensive vehicle. I've never had any issues with my last 5 brand new vehicles, 2 of those Ram/Dodge. I may just give up my $500 deposit as much as I hate to as I've wanted a TRX since the concept came out. SO ridiculous to have to check fuses, fluid levels, missing bolts, cosmetic issues, etc. The orange peel in the paint of a TRX I saw at a dealership last year was beyond bad.

Truck is at the dealer with the dash currently off. Dropped it off at 8am and was hoping to get it back today, but looks like it’s staying overnight. I got an update at 4pm saying “they were half way done”, but they still need to replace the seal around the air box and they’re supposedly going to seal up a bunch of stuff behind the dash… to say that I’m anxious would be an understatement.

Post update:
Got the truck back after a stressful 2 days spent at the dealer. They took the dash out and replaced air box seal and sealed off a bunch of other stuff. Happy to report that the whistle is gone and the dash is unscathed! Very excited to drive this beast and not be distracted by a whistle!

Several days after delivery I noticed a quarter sized paint defect damaged down to the primer on my roof. Then found out I have a small dent on my hood scoop that slightly nicks the vinyl. Dealer wants to take pictures and submit them to cooperate and then off to there body shop perhaps. Not sure what to expect

I haven’t heard whistling on my truck, but I have noticed the passenger side air dam which a foam piece between the jam and the fender on mine is not secured in place like it is on the driver side. If those are not there you can hear air coming throughout there and more road noise

Could you post a pic of the area you are referring to? Would love to verify if my foam pieces are where they are supposed to be. Thanks

You take your truck in for paint scratches, it comes back with door dings and a dented bumper !

I feel for you on the scratched paint. After feeling a disappointed in the number of scratches on my truck, I pulled out the polish compound and went to work (by hand). After about 3 hours, they all buffed out and it looks great. Its that initial shock of finding all of them that really sucks! I even found scratched under the black intake scoop decal!!!!! Nutz!

@Nick.C Where was your whistle coming from. Just got my truck yesterday and I have one that comes from the the bottom corner of the drivers side. Taped off the left side of the cowl and it goes away.

I had dropped off my truck to the dealer on monday and today the dealer verified the whistling noise. SA said he saw the service bulletin. If anyone is having this issue, have the dealer fix it and mention there is a service bulletin.
