Exhaust chirping

Would love to hear from others who have made this swap. My chip is after startup and gets louder when in gear. Can't really tell if it's there when in motion. But even after a 10 hour drive it was pretty nasty, so warm up didn't really help. If this is a good fix I would go for it.

Pretty standard to the Hemi.. my 392 Wrangler had the crickets as well.

Was told by one of the engineers that its 2 dissimilar metals with tight tolerances expanding at different rates... once the exhaust is hot normally the squeak goes away.

I installed the American Racing mid length headers and reused the factory cats, the chirp is less noticeable but still there until the truck warms up. Did not get the headers to get rid of the chirp, just for more sound and for future mods I plan to do. I am happy with what I got from them

Did you reuse the factory clamps for the header to cat connection?

@Jester installed ARH headers and still has the chirp.

No. You have to cut about 13 inches off the front of the cat pipe and add in the supplied pipe from the ARH kit. There is a clamp to put on the pipe that slips over the front of the cat pipe, but I got an exhaust leak on the driver side so i had them welded

I had my AWE 0FG installed at Wragth Motorsports yesterday. After speaking with them, they said of the 170+ TRXs they have worked on, 75% have the chirp and often times (not always) new headers make it louder.

Edited for typo. Meant AWE instead of AFE

Just to clarify this in my mind.
So you are saying you still have the chirp? Are your AFE headers ceramic coated also?

75% of the TRX which installed AFE headers the chirp remained and sometime the chirp got louder.

Apologies…I had a typo. Meant AWE exhaust, not AFE Exhaust.

Shop said that 75% of stock TRXs have the chirp and adding headers they’ve found does nothing in most cases except make it louder.

@Superbrowndude installed ARH headers too, not sure if his chirp went away either? Maybe he'll chime in?
That's a negative on the chirp going away. The only that's stock is the cats. So I'm fairly certain that's where the chirp comes from!

In my case my AFE headers and exhaust did not make the chirp louder, but it's still present.

FIXED. I wrapped my driver side downpipe and catalytic converter with header wrap. It’s SIGNIFICANTLY better, almost entirely gone. 100% would recommend. Get two metal cinch rings to hold it in place and you’re set.
