Dusterhoff 937 flex fuel vs. local shops

The 93 tune is nice, however I ended up on E85 about 90% of the time. I just like the flexibility of going back to 93 if I ever get into a sticky situation. This isn't my daily either, however I prefer to put my kids in my truck versus my wife's expedition. So if we take any trip we take my truck.

Sounds like you just drive yours around your home for the most part. You might be fine on a dedicated E85 tune.
Yeah from what I read here the 93 tune is a temporary tune till flex.
The e85 feel must be a nice difference, I will prob get on that option.
Great info

Might want to check the ethanol content at both stations. Not all e85 is created equal.. you can buy a cheap tester bottle on Amazon or make your own.
I have one and all stations I have gone to have been between 79-83% ethanol.

Careful with the full e85 tune if you are lifted. I've broken 2 front axles on the e85 tune, my truck has geiser springs and 37's.

If you are running 93, then fill e85, how long or miles do you have to wait/drive until you can push it?
How long till the engine adjusts?

For the Dusterhoff inferred logic I usually see the adjustment within 5 miles but try to wait 10 before any WOT. You can keep an eye on the AFR gauge and if you know roughly the e content you can determine what to expect at lambda =1.

What dyno #s did you see with the 937?
There were a couple more revisions after and could tell difference in power. I’m confident it’s over 800rwhp. However, I’m technically not running just a 937 package.

To clarify this was on E85 not 93. I haven't run 93 since it was tuned, i can but see no reason why i should since E85 is readily available down here.

I have my TRX waiting for the Dusterhoff people to tune in. I'm migrating from dt877 to dt937. Could you tell me the consumption of e85 when traveling? I opted for the flex tune because my region is low on premium gasoline. I can fill up with e85 when I can't find premium gasoline, but I'm counting on a reduced range with e85.

I'm analyzing whether by the end of the year I can assemble the 3.8l whipple and tune it to 93, 1000whp I think is enough to not feel hungry for power anymore.

I find my e85 range is heavily dependent on cruising speed. 65 mph and I can get 12 mpg. 85 mph that drops to 8-9.

What rotating assembly you upgrading to with the 3.8?

I don't know if you think this consumption on the e85 is bad, but I do this on the gas 93 and I'm satisfied haha

In fact, I'm analyzing everything, I clarified my doubts with the people at Dusterhoff and they said they had never done a gas tune for Whipple 3.8 so I got a little discouraged. I hope that next week my dt937 will be ready and I will be happy with it, as I was already happy with dt877.

Nope, that’s my best case consumption. I usually get about 220 miles to a tank or 6 mpg.

The issue with the 3.8 is that the stock bottom end won’t handle the power that that blower is meant for. Spinning it slow on pump gas is a waste. Hence why I asked what rotating assembly you were upgrading too…or if you’re just doing a built 426.

I’ve had two shops tell me that the Gen 6 whipple SC’s are not reliable with the TRX for some reason. Are IHI SC’s more reliable? If so, why?

I think the only gen 6 whipple out is the 3.8. 3.0 is the gen 5. Gen 5 obviously had (or still has) a lot of issues. Pretty much every MOPAR gen 5 that I know of has had to have bearings replaced.

I would guess after that experience that most shops are weary of Whipple quality in general but I’m not sure there is enough empirical data out there on the Gen 6 to draw that conclusion.

DT staff mentioned making a 4.5 or 5" pulley, 1300 injectors and dual bap for configuration 93, but that's just a guess, since they never made a configuration like that either. It's a configuration to be tested and adjusted, so I was discouraged. I'm in Brazil and it's more difficult to do these remote adjustments, I'll stay like my dt937 and wait for time to pass to see the news arrive.

I would stay away from the bap as well if you ever go that route. They are a bandaid and reduce the life of the pumps. Just go with a full return style fore setup.

Close to pulling trigger on this kit and got a local reputable shop to install.

you guys recommend other stuff not in this kit? Want this thing to be as reliable as possible. @AZDinoPwr?
