Driveshaft TSB

Then I would be making some calls. Sounded like you did not have extended, if you do tell them to fix your truck!

I got my driveshaft replaced with AF at 40,290. Lets see how long this one will last before the clunk comes back.

I have the eight year 125 extended warranty
You should be covered as this is a known issue and part of the drivetrain. That being said, seemingly the AF driveshaft is no permanent fix. Looks like the East Coast Driveline option might be the only long term solution at this point.

I got the AF installed at the dealer today. Part was ordered and came in within the week. I guess I’ll have to wait until it warms up to tell if the clunk is still apparent.

You haven't done the lastest TSB?? That's impressive.
Nope. Other than oil and diff fluid changes the only thing done to it so far is that I replaced the portion of the dash above the instrument panel.

Oh, and I replaced the air filters just recently. For absolutely no reason judging by how white and clean the originals were.

I just had my new drive shaft completed yesterday and picked it up today. Hopefully this will solve the “clunk” issue. The dealership tried the grease, tightened trailing arms and finally just replaced the rear driveshaft.

Well, exciting news! The AF replacement made it 6 months and about 4k miles. The clunk is actually worse on this drive shaft then if was on the original one. Whatever AF was supposed to fix it did not.

So you’re saying the AF is a snAFu?

Seems so. Honestly was surprised, given the low miles and that I have on it.

I guess it depends on your definition of low miles. There are a lot of TRX's on this forum with less than 5k miles, myself included, that started getting the clunk. Shortly after the TSB came out, it was obvious that the AF driveshaft was not going to fix the clunk.

It's unlikely that Ram is going to come up with a permanent fix, so we have a few choices:

1. Live with the clunk. (lazy option)
2. Keep bringing it back to the dealer every couple thousand miles so they can apply a tube of crappy grease and piss away a few hours of your time. (stupid/lazy option)
3. Lube the driveshaft splines yourself with high quality grease every year or two, maybe less. (second best option. will cost you an hour of your time and $4 in parts/supplies)
4. East Coast Driveline. (best option so far. can't be lazy and/or a tightwad if you go this route. it might be a permanent fix)

Most have said the same and yet no one believes us...going to wait and see a year from now on all of those that bought the after market shaft on the group buy. Then we'll know the real answer

Yeah no plan to waste any money on it as it is not effecting performance.

That’s where I’m at too. I’m going to give the aftermarket shaft at least a year, and then maybe upgrade. I’ve still got plenty of miles left on my warranty before I really want to spend a chunk of change on a driveshaft.

I saw this on Facebook last week and nothing has been posted here. It looks like they will replace your driveshaft if your TRX was manufactured prior to Sept. 27 2022 or if your vehicle exhibits symptoms of the clunk.
Is this a new revised driveshaft or is is the same replacement they have been using all along?
Mine came back after 3 months. I’m in Chicago we get a lot of humidity and sudden changes like yesterday was 91 degrees 65 dew point now today it’s 68 and chilly. Those temps which are very normal conditions for some reason kill these driveshafts. The stick is horrible to the, like in sport mode you shouldn’t have a .05 second delay when getting on it. Also, after you get your driveshaft replaced from the dealer you’re gonna notice your fuel mileage is going to go up a bit. Your transmission is gonna feel like butter and it will feel like a new truck. However, the problem is that they can’t fix it permanently, which is really sucked because that is really the only problem on this truck

I think there's a few people on here that have had the driveshaft replaced under warranty and have mentioned the clunk came back. I had the boot and grease "fix" done over a year ago and my clunk came back in May. There's an aftermarket driveshaft thst apparently fixes the clunk permanently but it hasn't been out long so I'm waiting for some long term feedback from some members here who have it before I jump to buying one.
Yeah, I had mine replaced four months ago. I’m in Chicago our first 90° day. The clunk came back literally like clockwork. So annoying because this is literally the only problem with this truck. I’m gonna go aftermarket and being that I’ve already had my driveshaft replaced twice through RAM. I’m going to then send the bill after I pay it to ram as I’ve heard in the past when they come out with TSB and they don’t work in people have to go spend money elsewhere companies do pay for those repairs to avoid Litigation. So with that being said, I’m gonna give a try to East Coast Drive line.
