Lot of info out there. Had a 21 TRX and 2 '22 TRXs. Went to a Hellcat Charger and also a Redeye Challenger. Back in a 24 L2 TRX as of Saturday. Is the bullshit driveshaft clunk still a thing on 24s?

Yes. My clunk showed up about 5k miles.

Only fix is to replace with after mkt and done

Yea, I remember doing the fix w/ the Red N Tacky grease...but I'm guessing that would only push it back another few thousand miles until you had to do it again.

I had the AF driveshaft installed. No clunk yet but reading on here it comes back. Only time will tell.

That sucks. I guess I'll just resign myself to having to reapply grease every few thousand miles. Thanks for the info guys.

Anyone have the link to the clamps I need to order?

I've been toying this this idea.
This may not be common knowledge in the car world but it is in the gun world. Anyone heard of titanium nitride coating? I have this coating on several handguns, mainly for looks but it services a purpose as it's "self lubricating", and I was thinking about sending my slip yoke out to get the splines coated. Would be A LOT cheaper than buying the EC drive shaft.

Thoughts? I'd love to hear about my idea, if it would be worth it.

FROM GOOGLE

"What does titanium nitride coating do?
Titanium nitride (TiN) coating is wear resistant, inert and reduces friction. Use it on cutting tools, punches, dies and injection mold components to improve tool life two to ten times, or more, over uncoated tools."

Titanium nitride (TiN) coating has some self-lubrication properties, but the wear of the coating can be affected by the lubricant used. Here's some more information about TiN coating:

Self-lubrication: TiN has little wettability to metals and some self-lubrication.

Wear: The wear of TiN coating is sensitive to the lubricant used.

Coefficient of friction: The coefficient of friction for TiN coating depends on many factors, including lubrication, material, temperature, and more.

Use: TiN coating is often used on cutting tools, punches, dies, and injection mold components to improve tool life.

Let us know what you find out. I am also familiar w/ it in the gun world. An interesting idea.

I went to my gunsmith Friday and they will not do the work. I did get the info of the company that they use but it's 2 hours away from me. I'll search around for a closer shop.

By any chance, does anyone have the dimensions of the slip yoke splines?

hi every1, just to clarify: is this the clunk everyone is talking about?

I don't think so. The clunk supposedly happens when the yoke sticks/slips when starting or coming to a stop. But someone else smarter may correct me here.

Yes, supposedly it is like a kick in the lower back but I have never experienced it.

Pretty much. My ‘21 and both my ‘22s had it. Was hoping it was fixed so I wouldn’t have to screw with it on my ‘24.

So just to be clear: u had the same noise under initial load (accelerating and coming to a stop)?

I only had it a couple of times on acceleration. Maybe I was just hyper aware when it slipped. 99.99% of the time for me was when coming to a stop.
