Don't buy from Antwerpen Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Maryland. I just got stabbed in the back by them today. We agreed on a $50K trade-in value back in January and MSRP on the TRX. My TRX is on the train to their dealership this week and they called me this morning saying that my trade in value has gone down $10K. I couldn't believe it, so I got it appraised by Carmax and Vroom again this afternoon and the price has not gone down since January. I think what they did was they used me (customer order) to get the truck on their lot quicker (8 weeks); then reduce my trade in value drastically to force me to pay more or back out so that they can sell it over MSRP. So, I'm very dissapointed but will start my search again.

So sorry to hear this... notice the middle letters of their name - "TWERP." Funny how they may have thought they could get a customer order on the lot faster than a dealer stock order... makes no sense if that was their train of thought.

Welcome to every dealership in the MVA area... Why i bought outside of here. There was a dealership in VA that had 2 around here for 50k above... its absurd..

Sorry to hear that happened to you, but not surprising from that dealer. They are a bunch of turds and wouldn't even let me test drive a Scat Pack Charger they had on their lot back in 2016. They said I can test drive it after I buy it
Wow - how ridiculous!

I would lose about $3K in taxes if I don't sell it to a dealer.
They will sell the TRX at 10k ADM and take their win that way. I would still sell the trade to carmax if they are offering that same 50k cause you probably won't get another TRX built and shipped in 8 weeks. Sorry to hear this happened to you. Scumbag dealer. But if you can manage to get out for a 3k sales tax loss, I honestly would take that as much as it stinks. The dealer loses ADM on the TRX and the profit on flipping your trade.

My state has similar sales tax credit laws that allow dealers to strong arm you. It sucks. Try to tell them you will go carmax sale and trx at MSRP but if they take the trade in at 50k like promised, you would give them 5 stars on the dealer survey. Otherwise sell to carmax, take the TRX at MSRP, give them 1s on the survey. Just don't tell them you are giving 1s on the survey until after everything is over.

Take the $3k hit. It's worth it in the long run.

I will spread the word about them. Make sure you give them poor ratings in the web, and any where. Call Ram and put ina formal complain. Call the better business bureau. Make a point to screw them. Internet ratings are important.

Dealers like that should be closed down but that type of customer service will lead to closure eventually.

Sorry too hear it, always get it in writing and have the manager sign it that way you have a leg too stand on. My folks just had a similar experience at a Lexus dealer but had it in writing and they had to honor it

I do have a piece of paper showing the MSRP and the $50K trade-in but unfortunately I signed that paper but they didn't. It was a set up from the beginning.

The problem with dealers is generally, the "sales professionals" are dime a dozen drifters generally who jump from dealer to dealer and/or have zero sales experience. Not to bash all car salesman as there are good ones out there (I like the guy I worked with to by mine over the phone/email), but 9/10 when I'm talking to a car salesman I know much more about the vehicle than the 23 year old trying to sell it to me. When I looked at the TRX the sales kid was like, "hey look at this pic of the t-rex eating the raptor cool huh?!". I didn't have the heart to tell him I already knew about that.

And if they aren't 20 somethings just trying to have a job, you're dealing with the aging guy who looks 10 years older than he is - with a mortgage, alimony and nagging wife; and he just needs the commission to pay the bills. It ain't an easy profession and it could probably turn good men into a-holes.

I have a black loaded level 2 with red accent interior that arrives this week. I may have to cancel it if you are interested in taking it over. The deal is at msrp

What color and equipment are you looking for? I may be able to help you if you sell to Carmax.

Go on ramtrucks.com and search TRX inventory for something close to what you ordered, you will likely find one. Many are incoming but you need to talk to them before they show up or you may lose out on them. https://www.ramtrucks.com/new-inventory.ram_1500_dt.2021.html?modelYearCode=IUT202120&radius=100

Damn man!! That's a shitshow!! For the last 2 months, have they had possession of the trade?

The reason I ask is when I worked my deal with my GM. He told me he couldn't give me a trade, because he'd not know the value in a couple of months. All I have worked out is my buy price.

Which is a good thing cause I posted my truck on cargurus for WAY more then value and it sold. You may look into selling outside the dealer to recoup a bit more money.

If they are a respectable dealer, hammer their FB, dealerrater, etc.... make the higher-ups see what's happened. But if the RIGHT you, be sure to adjust any ratings.

Update:
Thank you all for your suggestions. I found another local dealer that will sell me the truck at MSRP. They were my first choice but they didn't have allocation in January. However, I can't get them to give me $50K for my trade, the best they can do is $48K. This dealer is even closer to home and they offer free lifetime oil changes, tire rotations and car washes. I think for $2K more, I'll have better overall services with them. So, I'm happy to be back in the game but last in line again.
