Ya just can't make it up. Maroon on the lot LOL! I've been pretty sad and pissed off at the same time for a week over the election, but that gave me laugh. Then I got sad again thinking about its folks like this allowed to vote.

At least there’s some proof he’s alive.

That is true, good point. Hey bugman only brown and gold on the lot by me may have to order maroon.

There is a maroon one near me but it is the ultra early tri tone launch edition, which, as I am sure you already know, is maroon bed, green cab, yellow wheels and roof. It is 160k, Sara can give you all the deets.

I'll play nice... :ROFLMAO:
Just go build one on the website, no you not getting maroon, hopefully the dealer has an allocation, and wait a few months

Hey but how do we know which way he voted? Maybe he voted for us (where us could be either) and then we have one less vote...
Democracy is hard :)

This is the closest to Maroon I could locate.

This TRX will be the first brand new car I've ever bought. I've been spending lots of time reading and want to ask a question. Hopefully I won't sound like a Noob moron; I won't ask for a Maroon one....

... the thread brought me in because I've been wondering about ordering versus waiting for it on the lot. I have zero experience ordering a car. Until this site I didn't know about all the codes or that a JB should be exciting because it's ready to ship.

Since I didn't get one of the first 702, and it seems the hard cores here all ordered theirs back in September, if I want one should I order or wait for it to get on the lot?

PS - very impressed by the Vin tracking; scripting to search for the first one; window stickers by hacking the API for dodge; yall are all right.

Hey Shawn, you didn't approach this as a moron, so am thinking the thread will be much more kind to you! This first round, there will be many more than 702, the 702 is just for inaugural edition in one color and a minimum set of options. The 5 or so other colors were also able to be ordered along with the full range of options.
If your not in a hurry, like at all, waiting for them to show up on dealers lots is viable option, but would suspect that's probably at least a year out if not more. Once that happens though there will probably be more room for negotiations and potentially even incentives.
Let us know if that helps.

I would say it depends. It sounds like at least most of the first round allocations were bought by customers. That's not to say you won't find one on a lot somewhere, especially those places they are asking $$$ dealer markups, but if they do make it to a lot, I don't expect them to last long. I think Raptors average time on lots the first few years was like 3-5 days.

That said, I'm sure you could order one pretty easy. My salesman texted me this week and said they just got 3 more allocations, which must be for the second round. Assuming if you don't get a first round allocation, you'd probably only be a month or two behind on a second round.

You can always order one or wait. Like others said, it may be awhile before either option shows up. And probably by that time they might be cheaper to obtain because Ford is lurking around the corner with new Raptor mules running around. Or they might open up the TRX to affiliate pricing.

Thanks @marksouth, @F8Demon, @KnightMare for the input. While both are viable options you are both leaning me to ordering getting me something sooner which I was curious about. I wanted to make sure someone didn't tell me something like "with the demand they'll serve the dealers first and new orders aren't built till X month". I also hadn't considered that ordering might go below the dealer markup radar, compared to when they are on the lot.

Also hadn't considered that a Raptor mule competition could impact, or even demand; figured that demand was off the chart.

Appreciate the thoughts. I'm overthinking this so much. It's like I'm about to buy a giant, expensive toy, rather than being responsible, and worrying about all the angles. And loving it.

Welcome to the jungle brother! We all here like giant expensive toys and we are all just waiting for this one to be made : )

I think with some research, and a willingness to travel (potentially), you can find a dealer who will take your order for MSRP and start the waiting game. There are several dealers identified in a thread on this site who will work with you. You will be in control.

But once these things start hitting dealer inventory in limited numbers, you will be fighting the "I know what I've got" sales experience. They will put the first units in the showroom, perhaps on a pedestal, and feverishly tell you about the ten other calls that they got on this unit already this morning. You will be competing against the impulsive, and the impulsive will pay the ADM. Maybe I'm dead wrong on this, but . . .

Would just add if your picky on options and color, finding one on the lot your liking at the right price will be even further out. I'm very particular, this is only the second vehicle I have ordered but I have traveled out of state many times to get exactly what I want.

Exactly. I can't live without tow mirrors and an engine block heater and I'm fairly sure that is a combo that will be a unicorn on the dealer lots.
