If you have a choice between a LE or graphite built to spec, both at MSRP, which would you choose? The LE is in JB hell awaiting chip release, the graphite is in D1 with est ship date 2/28.
Back story: ordered the graphite build 8/21 from local small town dealer with no allocation (but I was told they did have). I was still in BG stat with no VIN in mid January. Decided to find another. Lucked across a LE at dealer in neighboring state. Original LE buyer had to back out so I was offered to take over at MSRP. I was thrilled as the LE was almost built with est ship date of 1/24. Then it sat and still does. Stuck in JB. I had kept the original graphite order as that dealer has a few thousand in tax credits I can use. Was going to release it once I got the LE. With how this rollout has gone I assumed my original order wouldn’t be built until summer. However I received a call this weekend from the dealer that my original build moved to D1 and has an estimated ship date of 2/28. Now I’m torn. Can’t decide if I should stick with the LE or go for my original build. Estimated ship date doesn’t mean shit it appears so could be waiting for a bit longer with original order. LE can be released for shipping any day. All my prior vehicles have been graphite in color but the anvil has grown on me (once I remove side graphics. Don’t like those), however I’m also one who likes subtle colors on vehicles. My original thought was to sit on both orders and see which one arrived at dealer first, but I’m trying to help a fellow forum member out to get a new order at MSRP so need to make a decision on which one in order to release the other.
Would love to hear other members thoughts. I’ll likely regret creating this thread and asking a ship full of bitter people, but what’s your opinion? 😀

I was in the same boat as you. Had a Granite on order, loaded with every single option at MSRP. Came across an LE for MSRP and immediately placed a deposit. I've been looking at LE pics and was not 100% sure the color would be for me. Yesterday, I finally found an LE sitting on a dealers lot near me. When I laid my eyes on it, I knew I made the right decision. That color is amazing on that truck in person. And, making my decision even better...I just received an email from my dealer that the LE has a ship date of 3/4.

Exactly type of feedback I was looking for. The anvil color looks so different in pics depending on light. Sometimes I think it looks amazing and other times I think it looks too flashy for my tastes. Wish I could see it in person first but this helps. Thx!

Really hard to answer for someone else. I ordered to spec because I did not like the LE color. If your in it for resale value I would think the LE is going to carry a higher resale value. Provided you keep the mileage low. I plan to to enjoy the TRX which mean it’s going to be a high mileage truck. What are you looking for? Resale value or something you really want to enjoy kicking around in without worrying about resale value.

Congrats on your ship date.

I also had a granite ordered but the allocation was pulled, so I got aggressive looking for an LE. Found one and am glad I did. The color is so much better in person, as is the pickup also... Anyone can get a granite Ram, but not anvil.

Anvil looks like it has a green tint to it in the pics I’ve seen. In person, it’s actually a bluish-grayish color.

couldn't get the LE, color is to close to the wife's Volvo XC90
matching car colors, I don't think so!

If holding value is important to you, I think the LE is the way to go... look at all the ADM on the LE as compared to non-LE, and just ask someone trying to get in on a truck now how hard it is to find an LE at a price less than Putin's palace. I'm waiting for LE 1591 to be built and I've gone round and round and round about the color. Some pics, it looks WICKED, others, it looks like bad seventies bathroom tile. Good to hear someone else with these doubts happy with their choice. I almost ditched for a granite that could be had quicker, but after seeing what dealers are charging for the LE, I decided to stay put

I was in same boat. Had a granite on order and wasn’t in rush to get a truck cause my lease is still good until may. Only difference is mine wasn’t loaded with options, it had what I needed and nothing I didn’t, the LE has everything except rambar and tire carrier ( I don’t like either anyway) so I’m spending a lot more on the truck than planned but I think it’s worth it. I started seeing people getting there trucks, seeing more pictures of the LE and stumbled across one at MSRP. I canceled my granite order and put deposit on the LE. I also think down the road it will hold a little more value because it is 1 of 702 but that’s my opinion. Because the color started growing on me and the fact that it will most likely hold value better I feel this is the best route for me, plus I’ll be getting it sooner than the granite I ordered.

Not in it for resale but obviously a higher resale is nice. This will be my DD with lots of mileage and I’ll use it for what it’s intended to do. There will be love scratches from wheeling. Also taking it on our summer long road trip this summer. That will put around 7k-9k miles right off the bat. I traded in my ‘19 Raptor back in Sept (hence tax credits) so I’m going crazy not having a truck in my life. Want one ASAP!

Awesome to hear. Congrats on getting your truck!

If you are fine with the color, LE will hold its value the best it seems based on the market right now. You will get more for it whenever you decide to trade or sell. The Granite truck does look really really good but Anvil in person looks way better then in pictures and video. Go with which ever one you can get first. Its a win-win either way you go. Congrats on being close to truck time.

Ha! That’s funny. And true. It’s crazy how different anvil looks in pics based on lighting. Sometimes it looks awesome, sometimes it looks too flashy for my tastes.

Thanks for everyone’s insight. I’ve decided I’ll take whichever one arrives first, which likely will be the LE. I’d be happy either way. I’m going to hold onto both until deal is done on one. This rollout has been too much of a shit show to risk it, and I want back up in case LE dealer pulls a shit move and tries to charge mark up last min. Once deal is done I’ll post up the open order on the forum for another member to take over. I want a member here to benefit from an MSRP deal. I’ve been talking with one member already and he gets first dibs. Lame that I feel I need to hold on to more than one order just to get a truck but it is what it is

Well you are certainly not the first or last to use that trick. Experienced people know to do that.

If you choose not to go with the LE, I would take it over. Tried to get one but dealer had no allocation.
