TRX Junkie
The dash panel above the instruments on my TRX is starting to peel. The pleather has come loose from the hard shell. Does that piece just pop off or is it integrated (glued or something) to the whole of the dash?
Nope. I've only cleaned it with a damp (water) microfiber. The pleather is fully intact, and it appears the glue sticking it to the hard shell beneath has failed. Were you applying any type for interior cleaner or protectant to the dash?
you might be able to remove it but you can’t buy just that part. Only the whole dash is available.Nope. I've only cleaned it with a damp (water) microfiber. The pleather is fully intact, and it appears the glue sticking it to the hard shell beneath has failed.
BTW, with a little more work, I've found internet evidence that this panel pops off. It's held on by a bunch of snap clips, can be pried off and will snap back on.
Thanks. That's what I was afraid of (and kinda found when I did a quick look this morning). Sucks to take my truck in for them to swap the whole dash and likely introduce a squeak/rattle.you might be able to remove it but you can’t buy just that part. Only the whole dash is available
Mine is at the dealership as we speak getting the dash replaced. I debated taking it as I am afraid of them messing it up. I guess time will tell.Thanks. Dam that is how I have been taking care of mine too... maybe we should use a leather conditioner?Nope. I've only cleaned it with a damp (water) microfiber. The pleather is fully intact, and it appears the glue sticking it to the hard shell beneath has failed.

You don't need a leather conditioner. You need a UV protectant like Aerospace 303:Dam that is how I have been taking care of mine too... maybe we should use a leather conditioner?
I know it's not full grain aniline leather like the seats above but I thought the dash was "genuine" sealed type leather. You don't need a leather conditioner. You need a UV protectant like Aerospace 303:
Leather conditioner doesn't do anything for the fake leather dashboard. In fact, it doesn't do anything for the sealed leather seats. The leather in these trucks, and in the majority of vehicles sold today is sealed, so any type of conditioner can't penetrate and condition the leather. It's a scam that manufacturers of leather conditioners are happy to go along with. Take a look at an older (pre-2012) Ford with the King Ranch interior. You'll see how badly worn, non-sealed leather actually looks.

Not all of themThe dash is real leather.
Not all of them
It is lol....pretty sure its the exact same dash that is in the Rebel.Yeah, I suppose the Serf Edition is fake.

I would say it's rubber like but it does have a fake stitched seam to make it look High end hahaMy Laramie had some kind of rubber material on the dash. It actually looked pretty good and seemed to be pretty durable.
I had the same problem. Unfortunately, this piece is permanently attached to the dashboard. The entire dashboard had to be replaced. This involved removing the dashboard, console and steering column requiring several days at the dealership (it was covered under warranty). After seeing the stack of removed parts, I had visions of a multitude of problems with rattles and things not working after everything was reinstalled. But I was pleasantly surprised when everything was as good as new when they finished. This is really an example of poor design. This is a separate piece that is plastic welded to the dash. Had it just snapped in place, replacing it would be a 10 minute operation at most. The dash panel above the instruments on my TRX is starting to peel. The pleather has come loose from the hard shell. So two problems. That only applies to trucks that don’t have Heads up display, and 2nd problem as you already mentioned is that piece is not available to purchase separate.I lifted this pic below from another form, so credit to whoever's pic this is and thank you. It shows the panel removed and having typical snap-in clips. Based on this, it is removable. Of course, it's not a TRX in the pic, but I'm assuming it's the same for the TRX.

The problem I've found, and a few others have observed, is that the panel doesn't appear to be available separately. For example, in this parts diagram, it isn't separately numbered. If it is not available, then I'll need to take my truck in and let them shred the interior.

And here's what the dash ("instrument panel") looks like. Swapping it seems pretty invasive.
