Curious on BWoody Positives and Negatives. I understand the whole cold air vs hot air, but I'm also up in Northern Michigan. Thoughts?

I also see +40 over ambient with my Ripatuned intake normal driving. I have done a ton of data logging and these intakes(non-cold air) don’t cause any concerns for increased intake temps. My max delta from ambient on a 3 gear pull where I do testing was 65F with stock airbox and AFE drop ins and 67F with Ripatuned intake with same ambient start temp. I love the Ripatuned intake, It’s so nice to be able to work on anything in the engine bay without having to taking the airbox out. But… it’s F’n loud at interstate speeds, like cruising 80mph with a pound of boost here and there. In town no problems. My girls do not like road trips in the TRX with this intake. I will possibly be going back to stock airbox with my AFE carbon elbow and drop in filters. Ugh.

Same with my wife but I set mode on auto and without stepping down too much the whine is almost none at highway.
I see you use the same green filterI have. Was this sold to you by Ripatuned?
Got mine through Bwoody but suspect they are all from the same vendor

Yes the green filter came with my ripatuned intake. As for your “set in auto” comment I will have to try that. I’m always in custom/sport.

now my next question about the bwoody filters is are they cleanable? I Know the S&B dry filter is a one or two time clean process but only by blowing out with air. No water.
I bought my S&B with the dry filter, it was all they had at the time for the intake kit, then ordered the oiled one separate. I put the dry filter in while I clean the oiled one, usually let it soak a day or 2 in dawn dish soap and water, then let it air dry in front of a fan a day or 2.
Not sure if the bwoody filters are cleanable or not, but if they are, you might look into getting 2 and just swap them every oil change or 2(depending how dirty or clogged it is) and clean the one that came out

Yeah sport stretches gears too far and my wife can't bear. Not to mention I have electric exhaust cutouts which are usually open so she gets loud SC whine with Bwoody, exhaust on a 10 note and gears raving high... lol again music to my ears.
I set it on auto , the truck is barely moving from stopped and almost already on 3 gear very silent..can't imagine how anyone or even myself enjoyed driving this truck stock when gears get quickly switched like a grandmas ride.
Thank God for the Tazer so sport is default.
Getting the ride tunned this week and custom will be home next

Funny you say that about 2 filters. My upgraded green filter with dry charger was delivered today. My thought was (if they can be cleaned) to put the standard filter on while the upgraded one is cleaned and dried.

Hennessey released a YouTube video this morning on their new 1200hp mammoth. Looks like they finally went with an open element intake

I got the stock airbox out of the attic and I just can't put that back on the truck, driving in auto made enough difference in sound I think the girls will be fine with the ripa intake. I mean they are ok with headers and no cats so... You use HP Tuners? Who is doing the trans tune? Tim Barth did mine but he only likes tuning the sport mode and only tunes the WOT tables in sport. He's got a purely 1/4 mile mindset which is fine. Ha. I would like to try some other trans tunes that are street driving focused. Travis Rainey did my Redeye and its great so maybe I'll get him on the TRX.

Yeah the stock box blows, had mine out and can't think of it ever back.
Couldnt get the tune done this week the shop has been backed up but have next week hopefully happening. It's a local hellcat tuner with very good reviews, I thought of doing Dusterhoff but preferred a local guy who I could bring the car back in the event of ever needing help. He'll also do all my maintenance from now on and I prefer it over the dealer. I know Barth is awesome and am not far from Ripatuned but wouldn't take it there because of their service reputation TBH.

The local tuner unlocks in house, no need for HP so we'll see how it all goes. We hear of so many bad tuners but I've done my homework and learned lots already.

I'm not sure if he'll tune sport or do a custom tune. Tunning sport would make more sense and with the tazer it would be an easy starting set up.
Glad Auto helped with wife it keeps the truck tame and quiet.

Where do you live that you are close to ripituned?

Good question. I don't think those(blue) standard ones are oiled.
The Green ones aren't oiled either but I could be wrong.

This is the one I have

I decided to be smart and look at the paper work that came in the box for the upgraded green filter. They are oiled filters. Says to clean and oil at 30,000 miles but driving conditions could reduce that. Also says to only use their oil.

The standard blue ones that come with the intake are the only flaw with Bwoody.
They should just include the green ones and add the extra cost. Those blue ones will choke down the TRX
don’t you think the price is already high for a metal tube and filter? For someone just adding to stock and never planning to tune the standard filter most likely is enough. I like that the have options.
