Curious on BWoody Positives and Negatives. I understand the whole cold air vs hot air thought process, but I'm also up in Northern Michigan. It's not like I'm in Texas or Arizona or anything. We do have occasional salt and sand on the roads, when snow melts. Should it be fine with the BWoody with no debris reservoir/catch like the stock? TIA

If you want to really hear that truck whine, then yes

my question is I bought the AFE because it is fully ram air, the B woody will pull air from a hot engine bay. I assume there is really not that much difference in the 2 systems , mine has more whine than stock but I hear ones with the B woody and I like it.

IMO stay away from the HOT air intakes.
There are a number of good choices which retain the factory COLD air intake, like S&B and AFE.

LOL at the "hot air intakes" like the big plastic pieces sitting on top of the engine aren't keeping heat in, get a tube style, it sounds 10x better than AFE and S&B, air is still pulled in on top of the IC where the old tubes used to be, plus if you look just to the right of the R in RAM you will see a thin piece of plastic that can easily be cut out..BAM fresh air blowing DIRECTLY on your tube filter...plus if you plan on working on your truck, removing a tube is alot faster than messing with all that plastic.

You can cut the plastic behind the grille, and air blows right on the filter. There isn't enough difference in Temps to justify the AFE or S&B over tube style, buying them is pretty much for looks.

What is the temp delta between air that has moved through the scoop and air box, compared to the air right behind the radiator? Not the average temp of the two sensors.

IMO, the air moving from the scoop through the hood into the airbox would be cooler, compared to right next to the radiator.

I live in Arizona, my TRX air intake temps are higher in relation to ambient temp than my 06 Cummins (truck is stock)

I would have a hard time imagining a different intake would make the temps appreciably higher, considering it uses a water-air intercooler

The stock system utilizes a plastic box sitting above the motor, there’s no cold air going in the motor, ever, unless it’s 45 F or below

same issue what are your temps ?

My temps with stock air box in 97° weather is always +40° of whatever temp is out. So I’ve been totally noticing the stock box is shit when it comes to cooler temps. I literally cannot get anything below +35° to 40° range. I’m still up in the air with which intake I want though lol

Ps, this is also with AFE Oiled drop ins. Although with the drop i do notice a bit more whine

I'm in mid Michigan with the S&B I keep the lid off sounds much better . we dont need to worry about the heat here.

Put my Bwoody on in early July. Never saw anything over 70 degrees over ambient. And that was sitting still on a 90 degree day. I don’t off-road. But with the warm season coming to an end. I just swapped back to the stock box. For snow/sleet rain weather coming soon. Never tracked what my temps were before I put on the bwoody. But plan on tracking stock box temps now. My bwoody always seemed to be between 111 - 145 degrees on 70-90 degree ambient days. Might be selling the Bwoody though. Would like to put money towards better upgrades. I’ll be putting out a post if I do decide to sell it soon.
