Cupping of tires

Started seeing signs of it at about 20,000 miles or so. Completely self inflicted as I don't recall having rotated the tires.

Also impressive since the roads here are mostly curvy.

I did on the right rear... Odd.... I have 20k on my new set of tires and no problems.

This seems to be a very common issue with the original brand tires on these trucks. I just started noticing some wear on my tires and has them rotated. As far as I know keeping up on your rotations is all you can do.

I always perform an alignment with a new set of tires as well as scheduled rotations.

Need to rotate them correctly and run the right psi. Rotate them in a X and it will hopefully wear them back straight. Fast cornering on pavement will also cause it.

I bought my 22 with a little over 45k miles and one tire had severe cupping caused by bad shock on the front passenger. Had it swapped out and have had no issues since rotating and now im on 37s with no issues.

I replaced OEM tires at 66k. Never any issues. Rotate every 5k and keep inflated to 50psi.

Damn, 50 PSI...why? Your truck must ride like a Conestoga wagon. The recommended pressure is 38 PSI and max is 50 PSI. I run 32-33 PSI and don't get any cupping.

Common? No not so much, very rare in fact.

I’m running 33psi. Just smoother ride but surprised running 50 didn’t wear out middle tread quick.
That's one good thing with radials, well, belted tires. They really can't change their shape (circumference) much because the belts don't allow it.

But yes, the ride quality must suffer a lot at 50, and also handling and traction in general due to the smaller contact patch. Great for hypermiling though, if that's the goal with a TRX.
