For those of you who park your trucks outside of your homes in the elements, how many use covers?

I unfortunately won’t be able to get this thing on my garage and will have to park outside and don’t like the idea of no protection. Not going to build a carport.

I would be over a cover in about 3 days! Also, wouldn't want to draw more attention to a frequently stolen vehicle. 🤷‍♂️ Go full ppf or ceramic at a minimum to help with the elements.

Yeah putting a cover on my AMG is super easy, but this big thing would be a pain by yourself.

The process is not as bad as you think, just start putting the cover on from inside the bed and it goes on pretty easy. I use a cover from California Car Cover and it fits very well. The biggest pain in the ass is when it rains. You will need something to lift and stabilize the cover in the bed area or the water will pool and pull the cover off. I rigged up a riser for a boat cover for the bed and it works pretty well. Just get an adjustable riser for a boat cover and a weighted base for a patio umbrella to keep it from falling over.

Main issue I see with consistent covering outside would be scratches. You aren't going to be putting the cover on a pristine car every day. Random dirt/gravel from either the truck or cover itself will eventually scratch.

Same situation here. Right now it's under a big Oak tree so shaded almost all day. I'm probably going to buy a California Cover/Covercraft. I've owned for other vehicles in past and gotten a good five years out of it. Expensive yes; but the others don't last nor do the job. I believe the model I purchased in past was their best; Weathershield

The comment about scratching is a valid point. Generally it's been at the four corners for me. It's kind of a must to only use cover when truck is clean. So I might not have it on everyday but I will after every wash. The other key is to secure it down well (bungee cords underneath from side to side) so wind doesn't cause a lot of flapping and if forecast calls for very windy weather probably remove it.

Covering this big truck won't be easy. Even doing cars was a bit of a PITA. Throw it on hood trying to keep clean side down, then start stretching corner to corner but the dang wind often fights you. Even a gentle breeze. But it's worth it.

Ordered a Reflectect cover from Covercraft for $443. Will give a review when I get it, but if it's anything like the reflective one I have for my AMG, it works great and has not scratched my car. I only use it if the car is clean. Since I don't plan on using a tonneau bed cover, maybe a little tripod to put in the bed to support the cover will work to keep the rain from pooling? For now I dont plan on doing PPF or ceramic, the cost just does not seem worth. Never done it on any of my vehicles and other than minor front end chips, they look great. As far as theft concerns go, I would think a covered TRX draws less attention than a bare TRX.

Got the car cover, it works fine, fits the truck very well. I have stock wheels/tires. I could see the cover working fine for those who have bigger wheel/tire combos too.

Very valid points on scratches if the truck is dirty, especially if it's windy.

I have a cover on my golf cart and it's a hassle to just cover it.

By the looks of your neighborhood, you should be able to get it in the garage. Mine lived outside for about 9 months until I couldn't stand it anymore. After some serious rearranging the garage, moving my home gym and adjusting the garage door height, I am able to get my truck in with 1" to spare in length. When I had the stock bumpers, I had 1/2 in to spare.

Agreed! I too wish I had a garage that was compatible, but it's just not in the cards. That said, ceramic, ppf and full XR plus tint goes a long ways! 🍻
I just park in my back yard under a closed canopy works perfect for me.

My neighbor bought an extended cab 2500, in spite of me guaranteeing it wouldn't fit in his garage... He thought the extended cab would be nice for his kids on long trips... His wife is barely 5 feet with heels..... Dude... your kids aren't going to need the leg room trust me.

I hate that fucking cover.... His wife is a sweetheart, So I get suckered into helping her take it off, and putting the POS back on once a month or so... when she drives it.

If you buy a $80k+ vehicle, and put a cover on it... Your priorities are fucked IMO, You were looking for a bigger house, with a bigger garage, but got side tracked at a car dealership. :ROFLMAO:

How do you like this performance?

I park outside everyday, within one week of purchase back in January ‘22 I had full PPF installed for similar reason, she would not fit in my underground parking. At one point I tried a cover too to help protect it ‘ keep the dust off it(bkavk truck) but it was just a Walmart cheap one and it was so huge and awkward to deal with, I finally found a “less dusty” spot to park around the corner where not as much traffic driving by kicking up dust….

How do you even take it off/ put it on without getting ground debris on the cover? And storing a cover big enough for one of these trucks when not on the truck has to be a challenge.

Stand in the bed?

You’re exactly right, it was a huge hassle getting the cover on and off. And when off, it was massive/bulky and the little “storage bag“ provided wasn't very practical. I bought a big rubbermade container and started stuffing the cover in there in the box of the truck. But when the cover was dusty, or especially wet (one time) I got fed up and ended up getting rid of it. I’m hopeful the PPF does as advertised because my paint underneath should be like new whenever I go to remove it…🤞🏻

Ohhh yes, i didnt even think of the wet factor! Huge added degree of difficulty.
I know Ceramic is the protection answer but not an option for me sadly. PPF same. Im just doing what i can do myself. Not much, final dry/ wipe down with a ceramic detailer. I would like to do something like the Adams (cant remember the name) but realistically probably wont.
