Coolant pump

No they don’t and I understand things break and have dealt with that on several occasions. The difference is when I fix something I usually don’t have to do the same thing again and again. This seems like a recurring issue to deal with every 15-20k miles. I have owned every major brand and none have quality throughout, they all have their issues so I’m starting to think buy new and get rid of before warranty is up

Well, you can't base failure rate off of forum posts. People only come here to complain about shit breaking. You might replace that pump and get 100k miles out of it. I'm confident that there are more trouble free I/C pumps than there are pumps failing at 15k miles.

Hope you’re right but it’s not just this site either. Issue plague all the hellcats from what I can tell from researching. I just joined this one because it was tailored towards the TRX.

I tried calling the aftermarket company to see if it HAD to be wired that way or if that is just the way they want it to run full speed all the time. Does anyone know?

Yes is has to be wired that way. You run a relay and wires directly to it.

I’ve also had good luck with https://www.bamwholesaleparts.com/ for OEM parts

Ok, was just thinking if it was a better pump it could have a relay and have factory wires trigger the relay to operate like OEM.

I appreciate that link. Definitely a better price than the dealer.

I hope I finally got a good one myself, I've had mine replaced twice and I only have 17k miles on my truck. I chalk it up to a faulty replacement pump.

I don’t see a revision to the pump where part number changes so I just think we will be buying the same POS pump over and over. Weird thing is my dealer and Ram care both said they have never heard of one of these going out.

I've got a spare one laying in the garage. Sending you a message

45,000 miles and all you have had to replace is the simple, easy to access coolant pump? I would call that high reliability. Buy the OEM pump, change it, and go at least another 45,000 miles. That will take you less time than you have spent on this string. Although, spending time discussing this stuff is fun and entertaining.
Vehicles are more reliable by far, by far, by far than vehicles in the past. And, cost far less to maintain than ever.

I can agree with part of that. Some are more reliable and some aren’t. I have a lot of vehicles and none are great. My 98 dodge Cummins has 227k and still going strong and don’t think I had to do anything other than batteries till over 100k miles, My 2005 dodge Cummins was solid and only thing I did to it was tires and sold with 80k miles on it (wish I would have kept it) then my GM trucks with 6.0 just won’t die but transmissions only last 100k miles or so, can’t complain too much about that, newer GM with 6.2 both blew the engines up, 2016 Ram with 6.4 is on its second engine and only pushing 100k miles. Ford 2002 7.3 left me on the side of the road with a fried ECM at 50k miles, 2012 Ford with 6.7 left me on the side of the road 7 times due to exhaust sensors (several revisions with those) then my Ford Raptor kept running rough and had a bad miss under load and Ford never could figure it out. As far as TRX reliability, I do believe it is a well built truck and have been happy with it but I firmly believe it is BS that we are dealing with this pump issue. I was actually mistaken earlier as this is actually the 2nd pump failure on my truck. It should be listed under maintenance:
Change oil- check
Change air filter-check
Change coolant pump every 15k miles-check

New here and am experiencing my first issue with my 21 TRX. I got the I/C coolant low warning with a check engine light. Took to the dealer and they said I needed a new pump and by the way it’s not covered by warranty. So I had already researched this before taking it in and was expecting that answer since it was not using any coolant. However, my question is, does anyone make a revised pump or an upgrade for this? Hate to buy another POS just to have it go out again. From research I see it is a common problem with these trucks. What are my options?
I recently had a similar IC related problem and got the royal runaround from my dealer. 2021 with only 9,500 miles on it. Developed a regular mis-fire every 5-7 seconds with no error codes. Lot of posts on this problem all of which lead back to the IC. So they tell me I have bad fuel and I told them that the truck would run poorly but not have a predictable misfire every 5-seconds. Not much gas in the tank so I told them to drain it but they refused.

There was a low IC coolant code generated while they had it and they added fluid. Obviously if there was a leak, that would have done absolutely nothing, and of course it didn't.

The issue got elevated to the "STARS" level and some engineer at Stelantis was supposed to get back to them. Never happened and they claim they only communicate through email. 2 weeks later with no loaner I decided to sell it back to them. They offered me what I paid which was a surprise but probably related to inflation and the used car market in general.

I've lost confidence in what used to be a great company. I've owned several jeeps of the years and this was my 1st RAM. I ended up ordering a F150 V8 and will be installing the Ford Performance supercharger on it (Whipple). Amazingly enough if the dealer does the install, it won't affect the power train warranty. Supposed to end up with 800+ HP. Obviously the TRX is a more capable off-road vehicle, but based on my experience, I'm not willing to chance it when it needs service.

It “may be” possible if you measure the ohm resistance on the stock pump wiring on a pump that runs to then build a resistor and trick the ECU into thinking the stock pump is in place. This would then not throw a check engine light and you could install the drop in replacement pump without needing to disable the factory pump in the tune.

Here is the replacement pump, which flows incredibly well. https://fiinterchillers.com/product/trx-replacement-intercooler-pump-cwa400/

If there was a true drop in replacement but superior option, I would definitely go for something like that. I'm just surprised that if it's really an issue with the 6.2L SC motors that something plug and play has not been developed.

Why isn’t the pump covered by the 5 year/ 60k mile powertrain warranty? Not the 3/36?
