New here and am experiencing my first issue with my 21 TRX. I got the I/C coolant low warning with a check engine light. Took to the dealer and they said I needed a new pump and by the way it’s not covered by warranty. So I had already researched this before taking it in and was expecting that answer since it was not using any coolant. However, my question is, does anyone make a revised pump or an upgrade for this? Hate to buy another POS just to have it go out again. From research I see it is a common problem with these trucks. What are my options?

I replaced mine with OEM (fortunately was still under warranty).

I've had my IC pump replaced as well.. under warranty. Why is yours not under warranty, has it been more than 3/36?

Hit 43k before issue showed up and even though the supercharger is covered under powertrain they are telling me pump isn’t part of it

Ah, sorry to hear it.. I searched for a better option as well but I dont like the fact that the only option requires wiring and also a tune for the ECU. If you're mechanically inclined, the OEM pump seems to be super easy to replace.

Phoenix, appreciate the link on the aftermarket one. I don’t have a tune and was hoping there was a simple plug and play option. If you guys had yours replaced under warranty and mine only made 43k you would think it would have had a revision by now.

#mopar quality

Also swapped mine under warranty. Failed at 15k miles.

Ya no worries on replacing it just knowing it will need done over and over again is what I’m trying to avoid. Was pissed enough about it this morning where I almost went and traded it off but nobody makes a solid vehicle anymore. They all have issues.

Felt the same over a year ago with downtime/dealership BS with our TRX.... even considered a Toyota Tundra (immediate/extended family, 9/10 are Toyotas). YT is now immersed in Tundra engine failure/recall videos.

About to 'adopt' a 2001 Land Cruiser from my Father-In-Law (one owner/dealer serviced/just over 100k/garage kept). Strong feeling that this will check all 'solid vehicle' boxes, surpassing our 4Runner.

That’s criminal for what these trucks cost and were built for.

Oh for Christ sake, it's one bad part and you act like it's the end of the world.

Here's an aftermarket pump....

That’s a little dramatic, I definitely didn’t act like it’s the end of the world but I do think it’s ridiculous that I have to replace a coolant pump and possibly carry a spare so I can leave town or rewire my TRX to utilize an aftermarket pump. I don’t think I’m expecting too much when I say there should be a revision for this. Some of these guys didn’t make it 15k miles but if you’re happy with it I’m happy for ya.

You were thinking about trading in your truck for a failed I/C pump. That's dramatic.

I get being pissed about a machine breaking, but it happens. Like you said, no manufacturer makes a perfect vehicle.

No they don’t and I understand things break and have dealt with that on several occasions. The difference is when I fix something I usually don’t have to do the same thing again and again. This seems like a recurring issue to deal with every 15-20k miles. I have owned every major brand and none have quality throughout, they all have their issues so I’m starting to think buy new and get rid of before warranty is up

It’s an aftermarket part that requires a tune to work properly. There isn’t a good drop in solution.
