I picked up my TRX last week Thursday. As always I instructed the dealer not to prep/wash the vehicle as I didn’t want them scratching it. The weather here in MI is snowy and the roads were wet anyway so it would’ve been pointless. I plan to get it paint corrected, PPF and ceramic coated so my guy was planning a deep cleaning beforehand anyways. For the time being I ran it thru a touch less wash on Sunday. I got home and checked out the exterior now that it was “cleaner”.
Upon looking it over, I noticed a dull area around the TRX graphic on the driver side of the bed(box). I looked closer and could see swirls everywhere. I touched it and ran my hand across it and sure enough it felt like sand paper. I checked out some more of the truck and everything looked great until I got to the passenger side and lone behold right where the TRX graphic is located, scratched to shit. Now I’m pissed. I’ve seen a lot but this is bad. Once the trucks leave the assembly plant, they are driven about a mile down the road to another vendor who installs the running boards, bedliners, the trx graphics package, etc. My guess is that they wiped that area with a cloth(probably a dirty one) and scratched the crap out of those areas. The weather in MI has been a snowy/rain mix with a lot of salt. I bet a lot of road grime slung up onto the fenders and got on the area that the graphics go. The scratches are actually under/inside the TRX letters as well and they’re deep. I’m not a fan of dealer body shops so taking it back to them is my last resort. I did some digging, I was able to find the contact info of the manager who runs the Mopar Custom Shop where I feel this damage occurred. He responded pretty quickly, apologized, asked for my VIN, and said he’d be in touch! I’m asking for everyone that’s received their trucks to examine the areas where the TRX graphics are installed. I attached some pics even though it’s hard to see, if you look at where the camera flash hit, you can see clear as day. More to come.

I have a lot of swirls and a couple of deep scratches on the passenger side hips. I already got the deep ones buffed out but I have it scheduled for paint correction and ceramic coating so it will all get cleaned up. The paint has a lot of high points (orange peal). My guys will make her beautiful.

What caught my eye was that the area looked so dull. There wasn’t really any shine. Looks like they used steel wool to clean it. 😡

Not for nothing but I’m sure glad i didn’t get the graphic package. Sure as shite should not happen though....

From what I can see, those are micro abrasions. Should come out with your planned correction no problem. Now, are you keeping the trx logo? I'm not.

Yeah I like them. But they’ll have to be removed so he can clean the paint up. Problem is I’m sure they’re back ordered since they were one of the items on constraint but I’ll know more tmrw. I’m hoping the mopar shop manager will get me a set and send me on my way. That’s my goal so I don’t have to wait around for the dealer and my guy can just go to work and put this behind us.

I am sure you could have a local final shop just reprint them.

I spent enough $$ already so this is on them. I’m already paying my guy to do the correction and going out of my way to “work with them” for something that should have never happened on a $92k truck. Issues are common on first year runs for a new model I get that but paint and graphics ain’t nothin new. They’ve been doing rebel graphics for years now.
