I just received a quote from a local ceramic coat applicator who I was referred too. He uses EPIC brand or a couple others that I can’t recall. My question is this, I was quoted $700 if I brought it to him straight from dealership. He says if the paint is brand new then the prep work is minimal.
What’s the forum experts thoughts?

That sounds like a good deal. I plan to do the same. Straight from the dealer before the paint gets damaged. Are you getting the two year or five year . I think it has to do with the number of coats. I think I am doing the five year

How many coats of ceramic and how many years is it warrantied for? Does it include paint correction. The 2 year package from ceramic pro is probably around that much. the 5 year is probably closer to 1200-1400. I've only done ceremic pro 5 year package on 2 cars so far. You can do a DIY kit for like 200 that's about as good as the 2 year one if you are comfortable doing the prep work yourself.

I know this is a completely different location, but this is where I will be "eventually" going:
Classic Appreciation - Coating Prices
They got their prices listed and what they use. Just to give you an idea. Everywhere is probably going to be a little different and based on what brand they use.
We would be considered the XL SUV, based on their pricing. FYI.

I may have missed it earlier but our local tint/wrap guy likes graphene better than ceramic treatment. Does anyone have experience with graphene vs. ceramic? He figured about $1600 for the graphene with a 5 year guarantee? Thanks!

I applied Adam's Graphene to my wife's Audi SQ5 in December. Two years prior, I ceramic coated my car with Adam's Ceramic. The graphene from Adams is kind of cool; they put some product in the coating that glows under black light making it easy to see how well you are applied the coating and where the touch up is required.

My initial impression comparing the two is that the graphene had better hydroponic properties. With that said, the true benefit would be graphene generally speaking provides a greater hardness rating; Adam's Graphene is a 9H, their ceramic is a 7H.

The question to ask the installer would be:

1) what product are they using (brand name)
2) what is the hardness rating
3) what type of warranty do they provide?
4) recommendations for maintenance

Used to take my cars there all the time. Great shop!

Just had xpel film on the front, ceramic coated and front windows tinted. I decided to bite the bullet and get it done

I'm in a different location that is further away from the manufacturing facility. With that said, I've washed and clay barred many new vehicles and the sediment picked up by the clay on a new vehicle is amazing. Just make sure it is prepped 100% or the coating won't last and it'll have flaws.

Ceramic Coating for 700 ? Sounds pretty cheap. I have been doing it to all my cars and normally 1500-1800.

Hydroponic or hydrophobic?

I’ve had 7-8 cars done in the last 3-4 years. Normally around 1600, includes paint correction as well. He even takes the wheels off and coats them too. If I remember right it’s supposed to last 6/7 years. He’s super anal and will re-coat if the water doesn’t bead right. He comes out every other week and pulls the dirty cars off the rack and goes through them like no other. Ceramic is the bomb! I don’t ever worry about bugs anymore.

Hard to know which brand of ceramic coating to go with. There are so many out there. There must be a ridiculously high profit margin with everyone under the sun selling it. Any recommendations on a preferred brand so I can find a local installer for that brand? I am guessing some brands protect better than others.

My detail guy uses Opti Coat, and his less expensive brand is Owners Pride. They both make some killer products.

Thanks for the update.

I have a quote of $3500 for my TRX. They coat everything including the wheels. Are they just using the spray on wax type or the real stuff they have to use the heaters to cure it? They use C Quartz Finest Reserve.

I think the ceramics my guy does is a 3-5 yr coating. Probably cheaper because of that.
Btw, your avatar is disturbing. 😱

Real stuff. He showed me the product and the bottles. I’ll see if I can get the brand name. I forgot it.
Not sure about heaters. I thought it took 24 hrs to cure.
