My truck is at a detailing shop until Saturday, as it's getting several coats of ceramic coating.
I'm also having the vulnerable areas (lower fenders, door sills, etc.) covered with 3M shield tape.
It was only while I was reviewing with the shop manager the areas that I wanted protected, that I noticed how well shielded the lower fenders are, directly behind the wheels.
The plastic fender mouldings protrude quite a bit behind each wheel. The main impact zone is shielded. Of course, beyond that, those areas are still vulnerable, which is why I'm applying 3M shield tape.
Anyway, I thought it was worthwhile sharing with those of you looking to provide additional paint protection.
