Catastrophic Failure at 11k Miles?

34,844 Miles on my 2023 TRX. Started running funny with the smell of burning oil as a Check Engine light came on with a Code of P1524 VVT Failure to Active Oil Pressure. Took it into the dealership to see what this issue is, get an routine oil change and Recalls addressed. They called back and said engine needs to be replaced as they found metal particles in the oil? WTF? I am so mad right now. Whats my best course of action here. Too mad to think straight right now.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
From my experience, get a physical copy of the repair order or whatever paper work you got from the dealer when you dropped it off. Call FCA customer care and open a new case with them. You'll need your VIN, that paperwork, and the date you dropped it off. They will stay on top of the dealer to get the work done and it will get the ball rolling on things like rental reimbursement. If FCA is having to pay for your rental, they are highly motivated to get it repaired ASAP. My FCA agent intervened multiple times to have parts overnighted.

What did your oil analysis indicate; any trend on wear metals?

To be honest I don’t think it’s limited to 22-23 model years. I know guys who have had their engine drop a cylinder, transmission fail, both from all years. Think most comes down to quality control.

Sorry to hear about your truck though. From my experience they won’t take the take to tear down and investigate, they just replace and move on to the next car.

As of today my TRX has been sitting at the dealership for 46 days. Still no repair and no authorization to proceed. My Service Technician and my Service Manager at the dealership now both no longer work at the dealership. My new Service Advisor said it will probably be another 4-6 weeks at this rate. I am in a rental being charged to my credit card. Totally unacceptable! I have a lot of patience and try to give people a lot of rope as I understand things happen but this is the worst experience I have ever had with any product's support. Let alone a $120K product.

I have called and called and emailed back and fourth with multiple Care Specialists. They keep saying it's my dealerships fault and they are waiting on them. I have asked to escalate this to a Specialist Supervisor and they were supposed to call me. No call. Everyone I have talked to at the Care line sounds like they are from India. Very hard to understand.

Who do I need to contact to get resolution? What other recourse do I have?

As pointed out by others, the statistics for engine failures is not out of line with other models from other manufacturers. I dumped my TRX this year because of another type of failure (supercharger) that the dealer wouldn't acknowledge nor would Stellantis corporate. The issue was escalated and with corporate through their STAR program which was explained to me to be the normal path when the dealer is stumped. Problem was that the escalated route yielded no replies over a 4-week period with the dealer telling me they couldn't do anything. I know - take it to another dealer, but that was was useless because they claimed that the STAR process would have to play out. So I sold it back to the dealer and moved onto a Raptor R.

Dealerships are going through some kind of transition and it's not good. Lack of competent mechanics is a big problem and backlogs are ridiculous. I don't think Stellantis is serious about performance cars and instead will focus on mainstream models and EV's or maybe the Dodge/Ram name will once again be sold off.

I never spoke to someone that sounded like they were from India. Which number are you calling?

You would think they would have an elevated service program for their higher end products/customers??

844-378-0575 is the number that I used throughout this whole process. This office is located in Florida I believe and they were able to assist me after getting nowhere with the rest of the "support" lines. FCA/Stellantis support is very confusing. There is your general customer support with FCA that my dealer gave me, a general support line for Stellantis, one for Ram Cares, and one for Mopar/STAR support. I had to bounce around for like two weeks.

Day 84 - Dealer still doesn't have all parts and no repairs have began.:mad::mad:
something doesn't sound right, i recommend getting it towed to another dealership.

check and see any of these power brokers near you?
