Always been a Dodge/Ram truck guy (when they were actually called Dodge Ram 1500) and have always had one up until the last 7 when I sacrificed my truck in order for my wife to get what she wanted. With that said I have always wanted a TRX and now I can finally get one. I live pretty much in the middle of the Midwest so that means I have to drive 6 hours plus to even look at then ones I've found on carfax.

I have been looking at all Level 2, 2023's with less than 15,000 miles and a few 2024's with less than 10,000 miles. I dont want white or black, had to many vehicles lately with those colors. The prices on them have been anywhere from $82,000 to $98,000. These are all 1 owner.

I like the 2024 is Delmonico Red with 7.4k miles, asking $98,000 and a 2023 Flame Red with 1.7k miles, asking $96,000. Thats a lot of cash. I plan on keeping whatever one I get for 4-5 years.

Should I be looking at vehicles with say, 20k to 30k miles for the 2023's. What would you all recommend?

Again, bad part is I can't really just travel to see them all in person. Most I've looked at are from CDRJ dealers, if that matters?

From a financial standpoint I could pay outright for any I've found but I just have a hard time parting that much cash. Also thought about payinga little more than half down and financing the rest for 3-4 years. I have hit brain overload.

Could really use some advice from people who have a TRX which is why I'm here.

Thanks!!

About 18 months ago, I bought my second TRX used. It was a 2022 L2 w/23k miles on it. The dealer (3+ hours away) sent me a ton of pictures and Carfax report of the truck and they claimed that it was perfect. :) Anyway since it still had another year and 13k miles left on the factory warranty, I wasn't really worried. Made the deal on line and they delivered it to my home. Deal was contingent on my test drive when the truck arrived. Bought several vehicles like that in the past few years. Works for me!

That deal even involved a trade (2023 RAM 1500 Bighorn). I sent them pictures and description of that truck too. They dropped off the TRX and took the Big Horn with them. I paid the difference in cash. Zero problems.

A few things you have to pay attention to a little more on performance vehicles (TRX included) compared to your "average" vehicle...

Always make sure the dealer checks the PCM for aftermarket tunes/tinkering, and if they say it doesn't, get it in writing. If it has any signs of that, any/all warranty on the drivetrain (if not the whole truck) is void, if that matters to you. Many also avoid that because who knows who tuned it, they could have been pushing the limits too much and the engine/transmission/etc. are ticking time bombs.

Aftermarket parts may also void warranties depending on what they are. For example, a cold air intake does not void any warranties, but a lift kit might void any warranty on the suspension (depending on how cool your local dealer is).

If you feel like spending a little more for new, you could always wait for next year when the 2026 TRX makes its comeback (in theory). Otherwise, other than color options and a little different badging in a few places, there isn't any real difference between 2023 and 2024.

take the 2024 Delmonico Red with 7.4k miles. that makes the most sense with your prices that are given.

Retirement Red or Flame Red. You decide which one fits your personality
So you consider Delmonico Red being for people who retire? If so, that's funny.

Truth be told I'll be 55 in a few months and the Baja Yellow Havoc Edition is one I am really tempted to get. It reminds me of my 1st truck when I turned 16. It was a 1984 Nissan 4x4. It was yellow with black trim and a big orange 4x4 logo on the door.

I'm definitely making sure mods weren't done.

It would wait on 2026 but it'll probably be a lot more than I really want to pay.

Thanks for all the useful information, very helpful.

How did the contingency work if you didn't take delivery? Would you of been out a deposit?

I'll probably have to go the delivery route. The one's I have found are too far away then I want to drive. Of course my wife says road trip but I dont want to put 400+ miles on a truck I just bought for the trip home.

Yes. I. Do.
I’ve never seen a person younger than 65 driving a maroon colored truck.
I'm 43, i drive delmonico red. Delmonico Red is a deep, sophisticated red color. It's often described as a darker, more luxurious red compared to a brighter red like Flame Red. It's also known as Delmonico Red Pearl or Pearlcoat, which indicates it has a pearl finish that gives it a subtle shimmer and depth.

Hahaha well I actually hadn't thought about that but you are correct as seeing older people drive that color. I like it because it is a pearl coat but that is at the upper range that I want to spend.

2022 was the apex, it's all downhill from there...

Fixed it for you.
Losing the 3 click seat belt chime trick was the end of the road... thank you for your attention to this matter 🍻

It's your lucky day.

No deposits are made and I make it clear up front (written and agreed to in emails) that the entire deal is contingent on the truck being what I expected (and they represented) and a good test drive. For me, driving 400 miles for a truck I want would not be an issue. YMMV
