Seeing @KnightMare picked up his TRX a few stats away, and seeing quite a few others pick up theirs many hundreds of miles away, brings up a question or two...
Assuming those of you driving a hundred or more miles away are doing so on mostly freeways/interstates/highways - are you following the break-in recommendations religiously? I ask because I have always been a firm believer in following the recommended break-in protocol, but find it hard to do when so often the first couple hundred miles are on a 65 mph limit road....I usually get into the manual shifting mode and bring the rpms up by going to lower gears off and on, or just staying in a gear that keeps them higher - but curious how others handle this?

Only 140 miles home but got bullied by a gen 2 Raptor on I-80.
Spedo read 111 as I past him in the emergency lane.. yep, I was that guy.
P.s. it's warranty begins at .01!

I’ll be driving about 900 miles home. I’m going to take “scenic” side roads first 300 to explore the beautiful flat state of Kansas just to vary the RPMs. Not to knock Kansas but scenic and Kansas are kind of an oxymoron

Agreed?
Babied my 15 Z06 back when they were all the rage...
My babying "super vehicles" days ended after that car..
Not agreed

I am following the break in instructions almost to the T. My kids have commented that they have never seen me driving this slow in their lives. I had a Charger Hellcat, and I own a Maserati Levante GTS with a Ferrari Twin turbo engines, on these kind of high power engines with a state of the art drivetrain, a good break in is key. I know it is hard to go as slow as the instructions say, but I promise you it will pay off. I base this on personal experience and an engineering degree...

I had never had any issues with my charger, and my Maserati has also been issue free.

As I previously stated, if it’s going to fail I want it to fail fast. So it can get fixed quick. Everything is under warranty and it’s on their dime. I feel bad for the couple of guys that spent all that energy following the book and got through the break in mileage to play with the truck and the moment they did it broke.
Anyways, too much fear has been created re defects. Unless you have that nasty ass tick, buy the truck and enjoy the shit out of it.

While dodge can write down whatever rules it wants, i beleive the consensus for the 50 years ive been driving was always that barying rpm’s was the most important part after the first couple humdred miles and 55mph steady was a bad idea.

Nice garage and toys, btw!

I will have no choice as I will have just under 400 miles to get home. I did map out an alternative beginning that in the first 40-50 miles will be slower (55 or less) and stop and go. But after that, it is 60-70MPH highway. I will vary speeds every 15-20 miles for a couple of miles, do some up/down shifting during but that is as good as it will get. Oh and I may pull off every 1/2 tank to fill up just to get a little more variation in speeds.

Here's the great irony in this pic....

Ford GT was pushed to take the record at the Ring and it did.... til the 2019 C7 ZR1 blew it outta the water after 3 passes.

Then comes the new Mercedes AMG GTSr comes along..... then blows the record out of the world and they choose to not even go public with it... then month or so later.... casually release a memo.... "psh... yeah we did a thing" lol.

Thank you for actually working your cars the way they're intended.

And a team I supported heavily tried to set records with the ACRE. Dodge wouldn’t fund it so we crowd funded it. Unfortunately the Kumho tires that were specifically for the car weren’t up to 24 mile endurance duty and they kept blowing the fronts. Still did well.

Very cool. Know the folks at Viper exchange really well and Morgan the main mechanic for them is the SRT V-10 guru and I have him do all the work on my Hellcats aswell including the motor swap that warranty coveres. He also did the break-in oil change on the TRX.... it has his blessing and he knows how I drive so to quote him "treat it how it was designed to be treated"!

They have a 1 of 1 production Viper there that was run in the 24hr of Lemans and it's an absolute beauty. Compared to the McLaren Senna that was next to in and the LaFerrari, it's amazing to see how the gorgeous body lines of the Viper have stood the test of time as true art.
