Black Out Front End 2021 TRX - Front Grille Emblems "R" "A" "M" & Skid Plate, Replacement Part Numbers

My friend has a very large commercial 3D printer that they use for industrial size 3D printouts and parts replications. It also allows them to print in abunch of various 3D printer materials and colors. Statues out of fiberglass resins, type material.

He said, just order another grille and he can 3d scan it, once its model in 3D on computer, he could change the "RAM" to "TRX" or even just T-Rex head and make the remaining pieces all flow thru, match pattern, like the real grille.
I am in. Ballpark cost for the print?

Just ordered black skid plate. Of course, parts shortage. Backordered unless my deal was able to grabe 1 of the 2 left in the national stock.

Can you DM me his contact info? I will order the grille and send it to him. Thx

1) First I have to buy and get a second grill.
2) Then put in 3D scanner machine to scan for use with prototype.
3) Then they have to change RAM to TRX or one of the Trex head logos, which I am leaning towards now.
4) Then determine the proper material to use.
5) Print a prototype of new grille.
6) Test fit.
6) Design the finish emblem covers of the TRX letters or Trex head logo cover.
7) Print the finish emblem covers of the TRX letter or Trex head logo cover.
8) Probably going to be matte black like stock one.

Once all that is done, I can get a production cost for your guys.

Then I would want to install and use it for a while to make sure its solid.
I am not a parts maker or reseller, just looking to make the TRX as good as possible.

As an example: I collect Jurassic park statues and this is one made from the 3D printer, I bought the pre-made graphics file on a 3D page, but the quality of a high end machine is incredible. Look at the detail that is possible. That's platinum and bronze. So you see the potential is here.

Right on. I cant find a TRX grille part number online. But the Rebel is about $1000 I believe, I am sure the TRX will be comparable.

The only way to find any TRX part, right now is to give your provider your VIN# and they can get the exact part and cost. Otherwise impossible to find online, the way the Mopar catalog is laid out.

I'm logged into Starparts with my VIN, and it doesn't even show the grill......

I can find the RAM letters, but the grill isn't in the spot with the others. Very odd.

Anyone thinking of using Plasti Dip to coat the skid plate black while it's still on the truck? $6.00 and no removal/reinstallation.
The Rebel Night Edition skid plate matches exactly the TRX front end components color wise, its like $267.00.

But how many hours of labor is it to replace it?

I would think it may take more than 1 can plastic dip to get a good thick coat on there?

Could use bed-liner or paint it. Atleast with plastic dip, if you dont like it or does not match perfectly, you can just peal off?

Yes, it peels right off. It's a matte finish but they sell "glosifier" if you want a shinier finish. Even if it takes 2 cans, it's still no where near $267. I'm going to try that first and see how it looks. I've used it on wheels and chrome trim and it turned out well. If you look close you may be able to tell it's not paint, but I doubt anyone is going to examine it that closely.

Yeah, take your time and tape it off good. Plastic Dip lasts about 4 years or so?

I am sure the labor is double that, if not more at a dealer.

I am trying to get a local dealer to give me a quote to remove silver skid plate and install night edition skid plate.

its like a nightmare, from service dept. to body shop, to you have to bring it in to get a free quote.

There isn't a book number of labor hours to replace the skid plate?

Can anyone help here or if you paid to replace it what did the labor cost.

Someone buy my stock one to practice on please!

Wouldn’t it be nice if this was the case for us non-Baja competitors?

Mainly because it wouldnt look right, and not last?
We have bumpers and rock sliders for our rock crawlers powdered coated all the time. They out last anything from the factory. We have it done professionally so maybe that’s why, but it would still be cheaper than buying a new skid plate from the factory I would think.

3 hours of labor at $130/hr. They changed mine for $60 because the service guy that quoted it was an idiot. Needless to say, when the service manager found out it was only costing me $60, he was not happy.

Thanks for install pricing.

Yeah, $60.00 vs $390.00, you got the part for free.
