Just saw images of this Hydro Blue TRX on the street. I was under the impression that for the street you couldn’t use the bead-lock ring? Is it possible to keep the tires mounted for the street (inside the wheel rim & street psi) but also bolt on the ring,,, without any issues? Tia for any replies.

Beadlocks are fine on the street, just clamping the tire bead instead of keeping it seated with air pressure.

Thanks I probably wasnt clear. If I wanted to keep standard street pressure, not in the bead lock position but regular position where the tire is mounted on the rim normally, can the ring still be screwed into the wheel? Or does the tire have to be mounted in the bead-lock position to use the ring?

I think if you mean the ring mounted on the outside with the tire on the inside, it is feasible if you can get the whole thing to balance correctly. One fact you may want to consider is that taking the tire to the in and out position is not something you can do with a spoon in your driveway, it takes some serious tools to get this kind of tire on and off the rim....

Thanks. Yes, with the tire mounted in the normal/street position on the inside can the ring still be installed. Or is the ring usually only for when the tire is on the outside?

So when our trucks are delivered the ring will probably not be installed?

I assume the rings will be in a nice carrying bag somewhere in the truck : )

I think the Raptor comes with a ”beauty ring” for the street & you have to purchase an available, functional, bead lock ring separately. I wonder if that’s what’s in the images..Maybe the pic of the LE has the “available“ functional bead lock ring, it has more bolts (24) & the Hydro Blue TRX has a ring for the street (12 bolts) that will come with the truck... Anywho... Thanks.

RAMS TRX website- ”The 18x9-inch beadlock-capable aluminum wheel by Mopar® has a six lug design with gloss black finish. This wheel also allows for the available Mopar® functional beadlock ring that clamps the outer tire bead to the rim. This enables maximum traction with lower tire pressures and when off-roading.”

24 bolts (functional bead lock ring thats “available“ (?) :

Thanks for the info...

From the sounds of it, I'm sure they'll be marketing this just like the Raptor's. I have had a '17 and now a '19 Raptor, and bought both with the beadlock "capable" forged wheels. The rings to actually run them in the "true beadlock" configuration cost about $200 each! I currently have 11 of them mounted (5 with Duratracs for the winter and 6 with K02's for the summer).

Legal? meh... some will argue they aren't. But luckily there are so many fakes out there no cop will call you out on it. The DOT trusts any soccer mom to change the 4-5 lug nuts on her minivan. You screw that up and your whole wheel falls off. Worst case on a beadlock is you lose some air pressure if you screw something up.

I've run my Raptor's in the true beadlock configuration for about 80k miles total. Never one issue. I hope the TRX wheels are designed similar and have that reputation.

Can the cosmetic ring be removed without having to remove the wheel? Considering painting it in the car body color (like in the concept vehicle).

I hope they just unscrew because I was thinking about painting them too.

Either body color or the lower color black.

Yes, if they are at all like the Raptors (which I’m sure they will be), the you can take the ring off that they come with, without taking the tire off the wheel.

Here’s a video that I made showing how the Raptor ones work. This is showing how the true beadlock system works. But you’ll be able to see at the beginning how the non-true rings (that the trucks come with) come off. Beadlock ring installation.

I had the same question as I was a bit confused about the Beadlock capable part.
I saw few Raptors in the showroom where one had the original ring and another one had proper beadlock. These rings had to be purchased separately but the assistant couldn t find me the price.

I m hoping the TRX will come with the true beadlock rings in a box otherwise it might be hard to find them aftermarket.

I guarantee that they will not come with the truck. No large tire store will touch true bead locks. I bet in the Raptor world only faction of a percent of owners run them as true beadlocks.
I do and love them, but they are a hassle. I will surely be running them on the TRX.

I have full beadlocks on my JK and I love it as we've never ever had to worry about tyre pop out when we run in the desert (almost every week).
I wouldn t want to have to pop back a 35" tyre

As to legality it is illegal for a car mfg to sell a new car with bead locked wheels installed at the factory. The reason it is any concern at all is actually an anti rollover function of regular tires, the theory according to the DOT is regular wheels will fall off the bead before the car rolls over if cornering too fast to prevent a rollover (I have yet to see this happen in the real world but I guess it is possible) whereas if you have bead locked wheels this can't happen....The actual legality as to whether it is legal or not to drive on a road with aftermarket bead locked wheels varies state to state and city to city as it is perfectly legal in some areas and illegal in others but as rare as a tire falling off a bead to prevent a rollover is I think someone getting a ticket for driving with bead locked wheels is even more of a unicorn

The 12 bolt beauty ring comes on the truck w/ the bead lock wheels, the 24 bolt bead lock rings are purchased separately

Beadlock-capable wheel rings (P5160250AA | $205 USD | $297 CAD): Constructed of tough forged aluminum with a silver finish, the Beadlock wheel ring clamps the outer tire bead to the rim of the optional Beadlock-capable wheel, enabling maximum traction when lower tire pressures are needed during off-roading.

I'm not getting the beadlock capable wheels from Mopar. I am looking to do something like this for when we off-road:
