With all the snow the northeast has had (feels like we haven’t had this much in NJ for a long time) comes annoying salt. Plus sandy beaches and salt water in the summer.

Besides obviously avoid driving on salty roads or dipping truck in salt water at the boat launch (and constant washing), any recommendations for protecting their truck’s underside?

Same. Surface shield is highly recommended. I have a 5 gallon bucket of that stuff and a woolwax spray gun kit. Lots of videos online. But you'll have to wait till spring, just too cold to operate if you're doing this outdoors. Remember to do a nice wash before spraying that undercoating. Good luck.

Remember about thorough cleaning first to put a coating on the cleanest surface possible. Then it can last +5 years or longer and salts won't be a problem anymore. Dry ice detailing is the answer.

I just slap the crap everywhere. Use a brush around critical areas like brake rotors. Burns off the exhaust. Looks like hell first time you take it offroad. Attracts dirt, grass, and feathers from slow birds.

Yep definitely going with woolwax. Just found out my buddy/mechanic that has helped me maintain all my other vehicles puts it on a lot of customer vehicles.

I opted for the foutz underbody skid system. Works and looks great. I have a spare brand new one if your looking to go that route

I built one for my tundra prerunner years back. Saved me from messing up exhaust front diff ect. I liked how this fit and the fact that it protected access to my cats. Compustar and igla were my first line of protection this is my second. Moment they try n hit it with an impact or saw compustar does it job. Lmk, got a brand new kit in the box.

I have been taking my truck to Ziebart ever since new. They have lifetime warranty as long as you take it in for annual maintenance (~$90) each year. They touch up any spots that are needed and the warranty keeps running. For me personally it’s hard to beat that.

absolutely, sounds like good deal to me. I just did it bc I’ve had experience with rock chips and undercarriage damage before. This to me just does a good job of preventing everything for being exposed
