Found this panel with a 8 pin molex plug and fiber cable connector in the console of my TRX. Was this supposed to be installed during PDI?

Sorry if this has been asked before I could not even guess what to search on this one.

It looks like something to do with the towing package.

If you remove the tailgate I think it blocks off the exposed terminals from the lock mechanism electrical connections

Bingo!

I've used it a few times already on my base 1500.

I learned something new today...thanks!

Hmmmm, now the question is:

A. Do I keep it in the TRX to take up space?
B. Do I put it in a cupboard in the garage to be permanently lost?
C. Do I put it in the garbage to where I am going to get the same amount of use versus Option A and B?

I'm thinking out loud again which always leads to trouble, ha, ha.

Will you ever remove the tailgate for long periods of time or maybe permanently? How many folks will actually use this?

I'm wondering why Ram decided to include this. I'm reasonably sure this kit costs a few bucks and multiplied by thousands of trucks it's a good sized number. Seems like FCA would just stock a couple at each dealer for a reasonable purchase price. Where the heck are the bean counters?

I don’t think I saw that in my truck. Anyone know what else should be included besides the TPMS sensors? I gotta ask the dealer about those pieces.
