Another with no lights in the back doors

You sure the doors aren't just missing the 2 wire harnesses (along with the lamps obviously)? Whole new doors seems extremely excessive.
Not sure what’s missing and what’s not. I didn’t put my eyes on it, I’m just going by what their master tech said.

Total conspiracy theory here, but I am skeptical that any trucks actually need a new harness. I think the connector is probably taped to the harness with cloth tape, and it looks factory, and you just can't see it.

If some trucks need the harness, then that means there are two different harness part numbers. The one we need to add the LED. And whatever harness part number is in there already. Can that really be true??? Can anyone refute this? If you've got evidence that you've got a harness without the connector, I'd love to see it.

I think you could be right. Has anyone who DIY'd this had to buy another harness? are the part numbers different?

I touched on this back in October when this whole scandal broke out but it’s buried somewhere in this thread.

I’ve not seen this particular harness myself, but I strongly suspect the “AE” revisions are built with only two light plugs. It’s listed for 2022 models only, and only the 2022 have been missing the lights so it makes some sense.

Conversely, the “AD” version is listed for all model years. This is the one we know has 3 lights because people are ordering it as a replacement.

They are selling both at the same time rather than just superseding one with the other so there must be something to it. If someone changed the harnesses themselves they can pull a part number off their old two light harness and we’ll know for sure.

Or it's a $50 experiment to see the difference in harnesses (if any)

I don’t care enough to do it myself but someone would just need to buy the AE. Lots of people have already bought the AD and added the 3rd light with it, so that one is not in doubt.

Either way, I’m sure that someone who’s done the conversion has their old harness laying around to snap some pics and pull the number off of. It’s on a white sticker wrapped around the loom.

I have a 2022, level 2 that was built in February and was missing the middle LED light in the rear doors. I ordered the LED's, popped the rear door panels and found the plugs for the LED's taped to the wire harness.

Looks like you have an AD harness from that little sticker

Looks like it really is likely there are two harness revisions, AD (has the plugs), and AE (doesn't have the plugs). If someone who has DIY'd this and pulled a harness off their truck can confirm it's an AE they had to remove, then we'll have the smoking gun.

It’s obviously intentional for either cost or supply reasons. Too many people affected for it to be a goof up. My 21 has them.

The dash ones are easy to check, should have a beam of light above the glove box as well as above the starter button and the smaller trim opposite the cluster. Just have to make sure the dimmer isn’t all the way up for all the lights to work. I changed mine to red but the locations are factory. View attachment 52677View attachment 52678
There are also two sets of footwell lights. The ambient ones that are on all the time at night, and then brighter ones when the doors are opened.
How are your lights red?

Mine was a September 2022 build date.

What does "AD" and AE" harnesses mean? So it's possible my truck doesn't have the harness/plug for the rear middle lights?

Wonder what the deal is with my drivers door, its missing the lower LED strip right above the cup holders and door pockets. That is the one I noticed the week I got my truck and is the most obvious one, I could live without the middle rear door lights if I didn't have a hole there for a light, which now I want lit.

I will see what the dealer says when they call, they are a power broker dealership, so they are on top of it, its just trying to figure out what parts they needed to order other than the lights and that was only possible by pulling door panels. I just can't imagine why they want to order a fully wired "$3400" door panel versus get the correct harness...and I don't care, that's a "$3400" problem that certainly isn't mine.

Newer versions of parts are usually given a higher letter code at the end. Sometimes there is no change in the part, it's just a different supplier. Other times, there are actual revisions (which appears to be the case here). From what I understand, part "AD" has the 3rd receptacle and the newer "AE" part eliminates it. Meaning they're intentionally removing that light now.

I wonder if this is about supply chain availability of either the connectors or the LEDs themselves. Either would make sense. Stellantis might have done the math showing they have 100,000 connectors and LEDs to go around. If they reduce the need per truck by 2 connectors and 2 LEDs, then that might translate to producing 5,000 more trucks over the course of the year. That location might have been deemed the least impactful, and I'll concede that it really is almost invisible to the buyer. We just know about it because we are enthusiasts. I'm using completely made up numbers to illustrate the logic that is, again, speculative.

The only thing that’s odd is that people are obtaining the missing lights with ease. If it was something restricted or in short supply, these parts sites would typically just cancel the order or hold it forever (in my experience).

When you look up into the gap/channel where the clear plastic LED diffuser is supposed to be, do you see it? It’s like a long plastic “rope” that’s clipped into the panel and runs along the bottom above the pocket. Only thing I can think of is that that piece was just never installed on the door panel and that’s why they had to order a whole panel. Otherwise the front jumper harness and each light are available to order separately just like the back doors so ordering the whole panel doesn’t make sense.
