Another happy $325 exhaust owner

Vibrant Performance 1794 are what I have. Highly recommend them.
These are what I ended up with too and am very happy with them. They are slightly louder and slightly deeper sounding than the stock mufflers. I wish they were just a bit louder at idle/low rpm, but they are PERFECT at part throttle and WOT. Given this is my daily, this is what I wanted.

The SLP stuff always sounds raspy to me (not what I like), even back in my old F-body days on those vehicles.

Yup, I wanted no rasp no drone but more sound. Did you get the 1794 or the other model (slightly longer). The 1794 are the 12" ones and sound noticeably louder even at idle/low RPM.

1794s here, too.

Are most shops these days welding in things like SLP resonators with stainless steel pipe extensions and stainless steel wire? I'd hate to hack off the OEM resonators and have a rusty looking hack job under there in a year.

Mine did. Not sure about others.

If you haven't done this just do it. The factory pipe is aluminized steel. At least on my 24 it is. My shop cut out the factory resonators very cleanly and welded up the SLPs and I bought a stick of 3/8 304 stainless rod from onlinemetals.com (before I knew the factory exhaust was crap) but none-the-less the guy did a great job, welded the SLPs in all around, hooked the two resonators together with the rod and made a custom hanger with the rod for the back part. The freaking thing sounds sick at cold start and even crazier revving. At highway speeds cannot even tell it was modded - the ANC must be very very good. Do not hesitate - just do it.

Will doing this SLP mod have any effect on my emissions here in CA? I’m assuming not but worth asking.

No. You aren't modifying anything even close to the primary cats. TRXs do not have mufflers, they only have 2 ~16" resonators which you are replacing with even longer resonators. They just don't have any sound absorption packing inside them.

The factory exhaust is aluminized. Doesn't really matter what they weld it with. I did have them use stainless 304 3/8 rod to connect the resonators and he made a hanger out of it too.

Thanks for the response. I came from a Jeep 392 and although I love the supercharger whine, I do feel the TRX was lacking in the exhaust note by comparison. They should have really installed the open/close system of the 392 in the TRX but maybe there are reasons why it’s not as effective on the hellcat?

Either way looks like I found my next mod. I like the fact that normal and highway driving is roughly the same for long trips.

Hey all. I just changed out the mufflers on my TRX from the stock tin cans to Flowmaster 40 series deltas. Really like the sound and no drone.

My wife's 392 is my benchmark. She thinks the TRX is now louder than her 392 since the SLPs went on. Tend to agree.
The cutouts for the 392 are only partials (some of the exhaust is still routed through the muffler), so I would suspect that full cutouts on the TRX would smoke the 392. Several people have cutouts; perhaps they have experience with the 392 and could offer a comparison.

Installing SLPs is the very best mod for the price you will ever do. The difference is very noticeable, like if you fed your TRX with raw red meat instead of some poor GMO chicken wings. Both build muscle, but only one will give you the real vigor.

Pros:
- louder and "extended" cold start. No "ballgag effect" after 3 seconds, but pure badassery for 20 seconds
- reduced-no drone at 70mph compared to stock
- louder at throttle without excessive raspiness
- the gas pedal feels to be "more in touch" with the truck in auto mode
- you can hear the powerful hellcat at idle
- drivers get out of fast lane with sht in their pants when they hear you roar from behind

Cons:
- your wife will notice that something is "off" 😁
- the sound of the compressor becomes a tiny bit too quiet

Neutral:
- when stepping off gas, it quietly "pops" like it doesn't in stock. First few times will make you wonder
- cruising is just a little bit louder
