Another happy $325 exhaust owner

Would be interesting to hear just one SLP loud mouth resonator installed and leaving one side stock. This was a thing years ago to create a unique sound.

The SLPs look to be a hollow straight pipe. Do they really sound any different to a straight pipe muffler/resonator delete?

The muffler delete has a little more rasp. The SLPs are hallow but bellowed which takes a little raspy tone off the top end.

Save yourself even more money and just delete the resonators. I have done this on all of vehicles, Trackhawk, Jeep SRT, 300 SRT8. Muffler shop charged me 90 bucks for labor and tube

Will a resonator delete fail emissions?

A resonator delete will pass an emissions test, because it’s only designed to quiet the vehicle. You only run into trouble when the catalytic converter is removed. This section of the exhaust manifold is the important part that helps reduce emissions.

Please let me know if this is what I need (already have the SLPs):
did you use something else to cut the exhaust, concerned these might be too light duty for our SS exhaust:
clamps:
and
sealant:
I was the first person to do these so longest use of the SLPs on TRXs. I have had mine now for 3 years and 25k miles and no issue. I had a local exhaust shop weld them in. $100 for the parts to clamp on.....probably another $100 to have it done by a shop. Just an idea to throw out there.

Thanks- I had it on the lift at a shop (in business for 40 years) and they brought up a bunch of silly concerns, so I'm looking to do it myself. I'm hours from the nearest city and don't mind a DIY project. Also installing Ampire instead of IGLA for trips to "civilization".

I'm at 40k (around 35k with the SLP's) and no issues either (cleanly welded on by a OCD exhaust shop that does a lot of customer work).

So challenging to compare audio via a recording and not in person or organically (in the cab) experiencing it. Like trying to convey a favorite Rollercoaster or "Champagne Room" visit.

As such and with any mods, the best answer for those curious is simply to find a forum member in their area and DM for a visit/ride. My wife says I have very few friends in 'real life' and need more, so any time with those I share hobbies with she notes will apparently raise my 'point score' on our date nights. We all WIN

If you ever need friend references for your wife just reach out. I am sure we can get a few people to be phone friends lol

Great to hear the SLPs are doing well for you too. still one of the best bang for your buck mods imho

I did the carven R’s resonators. They sound good.

The list you had looks to be everything you would need. What issues did the shop bring up? Only "issue" my shop had was he tacked them both in and realized working around both of them to get a clean bead would be a PIA. So he said for next TRX he will put the top one in, then the bottom. He still got a nice bead with zero issues.

Access, mainly, like you described. Thanks.

If anyone in the seattle area would like a free set of SLP resonators hit me up. Just need some stock resonators in exchange as I threw mine away.

Well being it was on sale and 10% more to boot I did the mbrp muffler delete, great quality, took about 1¼ hours to do, fit was perfect, sounds really nice, for sure in no way is it to loud, they really should have done the trx this way stock. The pipe is WAY better quality than the stock muffler section also. All in all a very nice product for sure !!

I did an MBRP resonator delete when I got my TRX and loved the sound. No rasp and very loud at woot.

To hell with 3K cat back systems. We have a full 3" exhaust with x-pipe. Just modify the "mufflers" currently on the truck and keep the coin for a tune and pully or something that will get you big bang for your buck.

JumpSquadAuto Thanks! I did the same mod. Ordered these, had them welded in, could not be happier. Idle is not bad at all. Light acceleration is just slightly louder but get on it and she screams. You could go straight pipe and save a few more $$ but I did not want low acceleration or idle to be crazy.

JumpSquadAuto's video showing you the solution.

This forum is awesome. Thank you for sharing the knowledge 🙏🏻

Seriously, after watching the video above I think those SLP tubes sound better than anything else I heard.

Vibrant Performance 1794 are what I have. Highly recommend them.
