Comments like that just don't make sense. They don't install chips on the production line. The chip shortage is contributing to a lack of complete assemblies or units that get installed. Example - an ABS module, ECU, HVAC module, Trans controller, etc etc... It's not like these union folks are sitting their soldering chips and installing them in vehicles.

I don't think she truly understand what the shortage is. I'm not saying it won't be a problem, maybe she's just a level or two removed from the correct details and just relaying the decreased production schedule.

Yea I have no clue, some dude just posted it on my Facebook thread and idk anything about this stuff lol.

It's definitely an issue. I'm in an adjacent industry and have been in Sterling many times over the years. Most of what happens within the actual assembly line is modularized install. Much of what is actually received and then installed is built by outside vendors or adjacent manufacturing arms that Stellantis owns.

The chip shortage is contributing to the outside suppliers regardless of who they are owned by to miss deliveries which then creates a shortage of the actual component (regardless of what that is). It's a knock on effect

It could be that because of "Just in Time" which is the way the inventory of parts is managed, the modules arrive at a daily rate and when there is a chip shortage on the supplier side, the modules for the day do not arrive, or not all of them do. So while there should not be any chip install on the line, they are very close in event sequence to that installation on a nearby supplier site...
