Anyone have any feedback or personal experience with the Phantom bumpers from ADD yet?

I like the Stealth/Bomber bumpers, but after reading about oil change nightmare with the bomber I want some personal input before I pull the trigger. I don't necessarily love the Pro (too minimalist) I think that the new Phantom is a great mixture of Pro/Stealth.

The RW bumper looks great, but a huge premium and they don't incorporate the marker lights.

Specifically looking to answer these questions:
Weight delta from stock?
Is the skid plate easily removable for oil changes

Also any other general feedback?

Thanks!
Jay

Heard back from ADD/DV8 Offroad hopefully they don't mind me posting this here... kind of avoided my skid plate question...

Hello,

Weight of front bumper is 140lbs and rear is 74lbs.

The front skid does not have to be removed to do your oil changes.

All you would have to do to change your oil filter is reach in from the engine bay.

You can retain your factory tow hooks if desired with this bumper.

If you do decide to pull the trigger on this bumper you will definitely be one of the few on the road with it.

Its only been out for about a month now.

Sounds like you have been putting In some hard miles on your truck, Nice!

Yeah the option of keeping that little marker light is a plus for sure.

Thank you.

Good mix between the Pro bolt and the stealth. Definitely interested in some more details. Keep the forum posted on what you find out and if you pull the trigger.

I had the bomber bumper on my previous TRX.. I had no issues with oil changes..You do not need to remove the skidplate... Even Jiffy Lube had NO issues accessing it and changing the oil....

Now for feedback... the Bomber front bumper was great and I really liked it.. perfect fit and it looked great with the Rigid Lights that I put in. The rear though I was less than happy with. One thing is that they flipped the trailer plug upside down so my spare tire kept hitting the trailer plug and making it dangle out of the bumper. The rear bumper also looks very similar to stock so in hindsight I was not really happy with the purchase.

I just received new ADD bumpers for my 2023 TRX and I went with the Pro. I like the look of the longer light bar and the skidplate especially compared to the new Phantom... I just feel like the light bar in front is too small and looks funny.

I know the PRO is a much different/more Baja look than the other bumpers but I am glad I went with something different. On a side note, for the PRO.. I am also getting the light hoop so I will have the (4) 6inch Rigid Lights and the 30" bar up front

No issues at all for oil changes with my Stealthfighter bumper.

I’m wondering if that was an isolated experience in that older thread, limited to one or a handful of PITA dealer service centers, rather than an issue with the product itself.

So getting back to this thread as I'm getting ready to pull the trigger.

Looking at lighting options now. They offer both the Baja Designs OnX6 and the Rigid Pro 20" for the center and the BD S8 10" or the Rigid SR 10" for the sides...

I've done some searching and it appears folks prefer the BD lights in terms of overall quality and life of components, but both appear to be decent options.

Any thoughts that might help sway me here, also Amber or White or a combination of both? Was thinking Amber for the side lights so I could run them on the street and then maybe white for the center?

Reason for upgrading the bumper and lighting is a long term plan to get the rig trail ready for a Baja run with Expedition X next summer, so looking for functional, not just looks.

Also planning on doing some riv nuts for the skid plate to aid in making it easily removable. A buddy was helping his bro-in law convert a cargo van to a camper and bought a riv nut installer to hang cabinets so he was looking for another use for it anyway :)

I know you can probably change the oil fine without the extra work, but I hate to lose the accessibility that the current skid plate gives for maintenance/repairs.

Jay

it might be nice but 3k price tag without lights ( front only) makes me a bit hesitant to order. Also, my previous experience with ADD left a bitter taste ( stealth came damaged and their solution was less than satisfactory)

I went with the ADD Stealth Fighter front bumper. I liked the idea of the 40" light bar. IMO it looks more streamlined. Here are a couple of observations with this bumper.
Although I havent attempted an oil change yet, it appears very simple with this Bumper.
This bumper is much heavier than the stock bumper. The stock bumper is a piece of stamped "tin". This ADD Bumper is solid!
You cannot keep the front fog lights but I added aftermarket light cubes for the built in mounts on either side of the bumper and will have those connected to the OEM fog light harness.
You have to get rid of the factory tow hooks. They no longer fit and the front clevis mounts built into the bumper are used in their place.

We can work you a deal on the ADD bumper (has to be made) and the BD lights! I like the combination of BD and ADD as they flow well together and have just been a popular combination for us.

I have looked at my rear bumper several times and always think it looks good. I wouldn't change it. I am up in there air about the front.

I think I am liking the RW Off-Road the best.

Agree on the rear bumper... I don't think its worth the $2k to change that out.

I do like the RW bumper, but its $6k instead of $4k, it doesn't integrate the side marker lights and since its very new we don't have much to go on for fit/finish/install or other feedback.

Honestly I have never looked at the price until now. At that price it isn't my favorite bumper.

Did I read somewhere that you can use their skid plate with a stock bumper?

They do charge a premium for TRX ... similar bumpers for other trucks being significantly cheaper. you are looking at 5k (after tax) just for front with lights . Some ppl can afford it and see the value in it

RW Offroad quoted ~$6,100 for the front and lighting package used on their initial display model.

Fantasy lights and no doubt expensive!! I’ll be curious about customer satisfaction once a few have installed.

Ordered my phantom bumper from Joe @SRG_Joe yesterday. Excited for sure but he warned me that there are delayed on building these, so will post updates when it gets in.

Buddy has a rivnut installer so plan on making the skid plate removable.

Went with BD ambers on the side and white combo in the middle to give lighting flexibility for various situations.
