Does anyone know if there is a OEM or Aftermarket solution to tap into the TRX camera system and have it record? It would seem to be an easier way vs buying a vehicle stand-alone camera/recorder. Thanks!

From what I have heard/read before the cameras can't handle being "on" all the time to record. That might be different now with the introduction of the digital rear view mirror since that rear camera is on all the time.

Even if you tap into the cameras how are you going to save the recordings?

Unless the video format from the camera is proprietary to FCA, you could add a splitter and send the signal to both the head unit and a recording device of sorts. Probably would be a bear of a job getting to the wire behind the Head unit and doing that but the technology should not be that complicated

I was also looking into something like that, but settled on this for now.

Thanks y’all! Great info to ponder... it’s too bad Ram doesn’t have record option.... maybe next gen.

Got you covered. Link to the video as well

I think the entire hellcat powered line-up needs a performance data recorder like the Corvettes and Tesla's have. Double as a dash cam.

Looks like taking the head unit out in the Ram is a lot easier than expected. Now we just need to figure out the camera input wire and create a splitter.

I am glad someone knows more about this than I do because I am very interested in figuring out how to record the video. That would be one BadA** dash cam.

I found this for the recorder part/box. I sent an email to Naviks as well about their wiring, but no reply yet.
I called naviks the other day and they told me their system is only for monitoring... no record option.

You think it we put a DVR in between the RCA plugs we could record? That's how I am looking at it.
If you did that you wouldn't record anything until you activate the particular camera you want to look at or only the 360 downview you get that shows the car. You would have to hotwire the cameras to always stay on and then you might interfere with the normal operation.

Seems like it would be easier to add a dash cam that can have extra cameras added for rear and both sides monitoring.
