2023 Non-Carbon Fiber Interior Trim Now Less Ugly

Wondering how hard it would be to swap all this?

It wouldn’t be hard, but definitely involved and time consuming. Console top needs to come off to get to the cup holder, all four door panels for those trim spears, etc.

Another question would be how Ram is going to sell these parts. For the CF parts, a few of the things are currently only sold as assemblies. For instance, to get the console cup holder you’d have to order a whole console top. To get the rear cup holder trim, the whole console end cap needs to be ordered, and for the upper dash trim, the whole bezel with vents needs to be ordered.

Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the 2021-2022 non-CF parts, so if the same holds true for these 2023 pieces, it wouldn’t be ridiculously expensive. But still likely $600 or more based on 2022 prices.

For those without CF the options are very limited. I don't think any CF kit will be replacements for the existing plastic pieces, most likely they will be CF shells with 3M backing to go over the originals.

That's what we see with Track Hawk and Dodge kits out there. They look good if well installed but I know the concept of gluing that over an existing dash piece will turn away many here.

I've never installed one of those and wonder how well any of these possible kits would stick to the textured plastic on the TRX dash. The glove box door is another big issue because a small TRX logo is glued over the door. I immagine one would need to remove that prior to installing anything and still think it could present issues when closed/open or how the result visually would be. The glove box open button is black so there's another issue to be dealt.

The front and rear bezel pieces, center console door and door spears are the only pieces I believe could be changed. The bezels would come off and be replaced. The door spears and center console door same way. Unless a door by itself is available in a kit, one would need to buy the whole console just for the little door.

Question here is it worth the $ and time swapping the non CF trim by the brushed ones on the '23s?

I don't mind the black passenger side look, just really hate the cross hatchet carbon from Alibaba Ram decided to get us. I didn't order my truck so couldn't choose that option.

Some high end CF wraps are absolutely undistinguishable to the eye from real CF. I wonder if one is better off just getting the non plastic areas CF wrapped and topped with a clear secondary one for added protection

honestly not a fan, it looks very similar to the trim on a stripped big horn.

the Brushed trim looks like what i had in my 2019 limited 1500.

As a FCA technician for 15 years that has had to replaced 100's of delaminated carbon fiber trim panels on all SRT products I was very happy to not option the CF trim lol They all seem to last just till the vehicle is out of basic 3yr 36k warranty then the owners get mad when the CF trim panel is a $800 replacement. It looks great but again I've seen too much as a tech to ever order a sunroof or CF trim.

Glad I got that extended warranty! Any thoughts on what causes the delamination?

Is it the clear coat layer or the actual carbon bond to the ABS plastic (or whatever is underneath it) that fails?

Carbon fiber trim on a 7 thousand pound truck is a joke
Yeah, I refused to add it to my truck for this reason alone. I would have opted for real titanium, brushed stainless, or even lead had they offered it. :)

yeh but still looks way better with it, than without it.

Big assumption there that people pick carbon for one of its many properties - strength to weight ratio (light weight) ?? Not me and definitely not on a truck this heavy, for pieces this small. I picked CF because it looks awesome and modern. Same reason you can get carbon fiber phone cases, wallets, laptops, etc. Some people just like the material.

I like this brushed trim even less than the 21-22 trim. Maybe it's just me, but it is the least aggressive out of the bunch. If I saw this without any context I'd assume the factory made a mistake and put wrong trim in.

Guess I’m the only one noticing this stuff...c’mon guys. First the smoked mirror turn signals, and now this. Looks like Ram got rid of the silly looking diamond plate plastic. So if you don’t get the CF package, you’ll get a new fake brushed metal type trim in these areas. I think it looks a lot better.

I’m actually “stuck” with a 2021 (that nobody will ever pry out of my hands). Just like to track the changes and see if there’s anything new I can add to mine. I have the CF so I’m not interested in this new trim, but I thought it was neat.

I will get me those smoked mirror lights though.

Need someone to come up with some tinted blinker corners for the far superior Tow Mirrors...

Genuinely curious: are the pieces included in the CF package ACTUAL CF pieces, or is it carbon fiber laminated on top of plastic?

CF interior trims are nearly always real CF layer on top of ABS backing plastic, the backing plastic has the right tabs and fittings to secure to the clips etc.
