2022MY Battery Dead May 2024

Just installed the H8 odyssey battery, fit perfect, and 350ish more CCA’s, with veterns day discount was $270
While i thought that battery was going to be the best thing ever im now having it perform worse than my original oem battery did. I used to be able to let the truck sit for days and days without significant battery drain and now its as if it needs driven every two days to keep it in the Compustar “ok” zone. Right now it ssys its at 2.1 Volts., not that i trust any resdout on anything that has been installed in this truck.
It also does not charge up as high when i drive it to recharge the battery. I never kept it on a trickle charger in the past with the oem battery or with this battery when i first got it.
Curious what length of a trip is not considered a short trip?

Amen, TH3 !!! Put that effing after-market GPS tracker in the garbage (attached image)! The one we (finally) found on my '22 TRX was drawing something like 85 mA, killing each battery I put on the truck. The thing was located at the OBD port. As insurance, I'm also using a NOCO Genius 5 trickle charger cuz I live in Utah and the TRX is regularly in overnight sub-zero temps. The Genius 5 is rated for my AGM battery, which has an 80 Ah rating.
Is your vehicle outdoors? Do you use an extension cord?

My 2 cents:
2022 trx with early battery issues.
I have the IGLA and Drone alarm systems installed. My Drone app alerts me when battery drops below a certain voltage.
I also have my Tazer DT installed.

I would get battery alarms on a regular basis. It started with two days of not driving.
Then progressed to overnight alarms.

Sometimes it was because I left my cell phone booster on. Sometimes i would make changes to my Tazer settings and not go thru the sleep cycles correctly. Sometimes there was no reason for the battery to draw down. Eventually the battery died. It was replaced under warranty. The new (AGM) battery showed higher voltage and sustained overnight voltage much better but still would draw down more than I thought it should.
Well.....today, by accident, I found an aftermarket GPS unit that was piggybacking my OBD port. I'm assuming it's dealer installed. After a sustained flow of profanities I can say that at this time it is owner Uninstalled. It's a Phillips Connect Arrow-QG (arrow-v1) self contained vehicle tracking device with starter disable capabilities. I do believe this has been the issue all along. This thing is LTE active with its own sim card. Has its own IMEI number like a cell phone. Those bastards......this was without my knowledge.

HEY EVERYBODY.......RIGHT NOW, GO LOOK AT YOUR OBD PORT HARNESS. LOOK FOR THIS PIGGYBACKING DEVICE!!!
Curious question, I am assuming you financed your truck?

Yes we did. We had 25% avaliable to put down with a good credit score. I would not think it was installed due to selling to a sketchy buyer.... however we are out of state buyers.
So maybe the fact that the truck being purchased in California but registered in Arkansas had something to do with it. I'm just speculating here....
I'm assuming there is a gps tracking disclosure buried somewhere deep in the purchase agreement. They definitely did not verbally mention this the day we bought the truck and I definitely did not read every word of the contract.

I have removed them from trx’s that were bought in full with cash. Its just something a dealer throws onto all vehicles over a certain price (if that dealer does them) They buy in bulk and have fleet accounts so its cheaper all around. If you look at your buyers agreement there is probably an masked add on charge to cover costs. They add a “dealers package” claiming wipers, ceramic coating ect to cover these costs.
