just over 15k miles, 0 issues........and OMG, i change the oil myselfYou are absolutely going to see some of the worst examples of vehicles when monitoring forums like this. Take it all with a huge lump of salt 👍🤷♂️ Even non-modified, warranty covered issues unlike this one (From what I have gathered) seem to occasionally have “problems” which may very well be the way the servicing dealership handles it on their end.
Pretty often here, we have members that chime in with zero issues and 10’s of thousands of miles on their TRX’s, so rest assured most seem to be a-okay.
Did you knock on wood immediately after posting?just over 15k miles, 0 issues........and OMG, i change the oil myself
nah, truck is stock, drive it like i stole it (cause i think these hemi engines last longer being driven like they were built to be)........now i'm thinking i better go find some wood to knock on!!!!Did you knock on wood immediately after posting?
It depends how important "time" for you. You can spend some bucks and be happy and no back and forth with dealer or just keep trying and see if they will do it. I also used the alfaobd to enable the powersteps in uconnect, and amber DRL lights etc. Same thing with the missing #2 led lights in the rear doors. Some go after a dealer or just pay the 32$ and put the lights yourself. Either way is fine and we all make different choices as long as you are happy with itSo I have read a dozen times. I’m not buying alphaodb to turn on a feature that I paid for. Also, not the point I was making.
Makes sense that Ram / Stellantis would want a full download of all data, before handing over a new motor!Sorry but you are not fully informed here. The manufacturer has access to all of the data that the Dealer gets electronically that comes from the vehicle. Now that that is settled you do the due diligence on that and respond back. Most people have no idea about that. In the modern world the Dealer really only has a very limited ability to influence the manufacturer on major repairs. The FSE would almost with 100% certainty be involved with this.
It is getting almost impossible to cheat the automotive manufacturers any longer by attempting to cover up modifications.
The other part of this is do not be stupid and post what you do to your truck on a public forum and then chronicle the whole thing for everyone to see. If you do not think that the manufacturers monitor these forums, I have some wonderful beachfront property in Kansas to sell you!![]()
Congrats. Do you have to do the 500 miles break in all over again?UPDATE: just got my truck back after almost 3 months in the shop. Brand new engine, brand new Supercharger and brand new catalectic converters, all covered under warranty no out-of-pocket for me, super pleased!
The repair was estimated to be over $30,000 so, they really stepped up to the plate!
Stay the hell away from any of the dealerships in Austin and take a drive to Bluebonnet CDR in New Braunfels. Their service and sales departments are without question the best in the business! This part is definitely scary, hopefully I find a good dealership here in Austin.
Service managers don't have the authority to deny a warranty claim. The manufacturer owns the warranty and only the manufacturer can deny a claim. If the $ to fight are a deal breaker.
He needs to find a shop who can assess the damage and give him a quote to repair the frame (if needed) keeper tabs, bolt hole and maybe replace the A arm.
It might be less than than the time / money for a fight with Ram.
If it was me, I would do the lawyer, engineer and then drive the truck up the ass of the service manager who denied the warranty!
Thats the only bummer, yes I do.Congrats. Do you have to do the 500 miles break in all over again?
Not to take away from the thread, but your comment hit home and is timely....You are absolutely going to see some of the worst examples of vehicles when monitoring forums like this. Which dealership? Tempe CDJR is the only one in the valley I have found satisfactory but if they are doing this to you then my days of going to a dealership might be over. Not to take away from the thread, but your comment hit home and is timely....
Under warranty/19k and third time (and nearing 3wks collectively out of service) at the dealership. Strong coolant smell (and loss but no codes).
Long story short (as the eventual forum thread will be akin to a Manifesto with amusing attached documents). By profession I take detailed notes, time stamps, notes re: comments/conversations/calls and whom/copies of emails/tech notes/etc. and hopefully there will be some takeaways for other members experiencing similar/things to try (or avoid/redirect their repair elsewhere).
How the dealership has handled it (including discounting statements made/consistent lack of communication/etc) is bewildering on all levels/personnel involved amplified by my biblical warnings "just keep me well informed/don't let me have to escalate this...". They had me at "all TRX's smell like this under the hood" with a smirk.
Now awaiting a replacement radiator (supposed to arrive last Wednesday/now possibly Monday) after it finally starting leaking. Out of curiosity - checked various dealer parts departments, they are on national back-order (and told probably 1-2mo. out). Not knowing what to believe, I rekindled a RAM Cares case# I had instigated prior to visit #2 and they have obviously lit a fire calling the dealership (now Service Advisor is copying Parts/Service and CSI Managers).
RAM Cares assured me that now 'they' are holding the dealership accountable (for parts arrival to resolution), and IF antics are noted they will escalate internally as 'dealerships are operated independently'. As a customer I'd rather not be this involved from a scenario that should have been a simple repair following a thorough/detailed first inspection.
We plan on keeping our 'family' TRX but lost tremendous faith in our local dealership. It's challenging (family/work/even getting an adequate loaner for daily toddler x3 transporting) to change (Service) dealerships, most likely will default to a trusted tuning shop that I have a decade of experience with. Just don't need the BS/angst and mental focus anymore especially if this is a reflection of future warranty issues.

Two different casesI searched to find this thread to see what happened.
I'm lost.
Rander2586 was the OP. Your post that I quoted made it look like you were the OP (giving an update).
Was that you? Did you change usernames? Or what am I missing?
My motor took a shit two months ago and has been at the dealership ever since the tow truck dropped it off. 6 months old with 6600 miles on it.
They found broken pieces of metal in the intake manifold and took pictures via a small scope. The diagnoses was something let go in the super charger and it was carnage from there. The shop petition Stellantis to send me a new motor and supercharger and they approved the request and my new motor and supercharger just showed up so next week is looking like when this chapter is finalized !
just a heads up the first accused me of putting in low octane fuel, fortunately I had put in $150 of supreme fuel and had a copy of the receipt so that put an end to that.
For me any work done on my truck and that’s including oil changes is always done at the factory that way when you have a very hard receipt of what was done and when it was done and by whom it was done, all factory!
Bottom line my fellow RAM TRX brothers, it’s obvious you have to save every receipt that you have and have all work done by the factory because all these people are doing is hunting for a way to screw you out of a repair!
Just ask the guy whose front differential went out and they would not honor the warranty because they had said that the differential got below water level with mud. Right now geez Louise I thought that’s what the truck was supposed to do, Point is always protect yourself with this truck.
As for Rander2586, be super aggressive and make your way up the food chain. Service advisor then service manager then dealership manager then vice president of operations, dealership owner and then move to the parent company and start escalating it there. The one thing these people do not want is a really really bad review because it hurts her sales big-time, so as you move up the food chain make sure they understand that you were going to write a crappy review that would be worth getting a Pulitzer Prize!
Sending positive thoughts your way!!
Two different cases
Airpark, and yes will certainly try Tempe next time. (You'd recommended a contact person to me in another post).Which dealership? Tempe CDJR is the only one in the valley I have found satisfactory but if they are doing this to you then my days of going to a dealership might be over.
OP posted on the forum that RAM denied the warranty, offered him $2000 and he was pissed at RAM looking for forum support.Yes...I'm wondering the same.
If I recall, OReilly Filter Guy posted a second dealership found damage inside the supercharger (in addition to the block-rod-piston damage), likely from the blower attempting to compress water (no bueno). Add that to fresh water found in one or more cylinders....... in short and IMO the OP of that thread attempted to turn his TRX into a water feature and therefore his warranty was denied. I believe the dealership told him to file a flood claim with his auto insurance, probably good advice.I still get a kick out of the life of this thread. It's been going almost two weeks, 11,000 views, and over 200 replies, even though the originator abandoned it long ago. We've even brought back the story of the poor fella with the wet O'Reilly air filter. I didn't see where anybody updated that guy's final outcome though. Maybe we're all in the dark.
